The debate could go on for years & years. If people are not willing to change or listen to reason, then let them pay over the odds for their computing needs.
I am not a total Linux freak ;)
Windows was my OS of choice for a long time & under some circumstances still is. Mostly for opening files that are bought in to work that will only open on Windows software (MS Works springs to mind) but I still use open office on Windows. How much was MS office again? ;)
Still I can see you are not for changing, but everyone has a choice. I think if it is free, give it a bash.

You are all over the place with your points. Nobody here for one second debates costs of things, nor the fact that Oo.org is quite nice. This site was founded and still thrives on the idea of cheap or free software.

Oh, and Office 2k7 Ultimate cost me 60 dollars, USD :)

Adrynalyne already answered this pretty well, but I thought I take a turn.
Bloat is anything you don't want or need. I don't want or need office suites. Never liked them and don't care for the amount of space they require. The first thing I did upon bringing home my new Vista machine was look to see (or expecting to see) what I was going to have to uninstall or disable. I found that there was nothing that I didn't want or might possibly use in the future. I was very happy with that. Some of us prefer to install we we want, not what someone thinks we need. And yes I have a large HDD but I still watch what space each and every app, I add, needs.
I have never had a virus or malware on my Vista machine. True, I only have had it 5 months, but I feel I am well protected and knowledgeable enough to prevent becoming infected. After all, nearly all infections come from the user doing something they shouldn't.
I did happen to catch something a few years ago, but again my fault not the OS.

:neener:neener Okay, I hold my hands up & surrender. I ain't going to fall out with anyone over this.
When you say you paid 60 dollars for MS Office, you are lucky. I am in the UK & we are being ripped off. Office Pro 2007 is costing us around 370 UK pounds.
I know my points have gone a bit off, but I haven't slept much for a few weeks now.:cry
Still, I back down. I will now crawl back in my box & shut up.
