What Programs Would You Suggest?!

I recently started using this computer again (like a few hours ago actually) since it crashed, I already have ZA Firewall Pro, TweakNow RegCleaner, Spyware Blaster, SB S&D, RegScrubXP, CCleaner. I was wanting some opinions/advice on what you think would be the 'best' anti-virus to use, I was using AVG on the other computer. Do you think I should have any other type of "registry cleaners"? Maybe get rid of the one(s) that I have? What do YOU think I should have on here to keep my computer running as smoothly as possible? Any comments would be appreciated!

 

Some other anti-virus software you could use are:

Avast! Home Edition
AntiVir Personal Edition

But remember to only install/run one anti-virus at a time.

In addition to what controlmind suggests I would recommend Ad-Aware SE with the VX2 Cleaner Plug-In in addition to the Spyware applications you are currentlly running.

 

Shadow... do you recommend that everyone using Adaware SE install the VX2 plugin or only users experiencing the ill effects of this malware?

 

I'd install that plug-in in a just-in-case situation....Though, I use other vx2 detectors and plugins for additional checking.

 

I install the plug-in on all systems, and run the plug-in when the situation calls for it.

 

I've been using Avast! for several months, and really like the program. It seems to have a smaller footprint then others I have tried.

 

Also Microsoft Anti-Spyware you should add.

Yes and also if you just want to make sure you dont have it on your system.

I usually use this antivirus and this anti-spyware suite and it definitely sufficient for me.

 

Did you install Firefox yet?

 

Thanks for the advice everyone and will definetly look up the programs you suggested. And to answer Ira's question, yes I'm running FireFox as well, lol.

I'd seriously consider it, because people pointing to all the anti-spyware and anti-viruses it's just embarassing :-x

Re: anti-virus/firewall. for free stuff I really like AVG and Kerio. I, however, am using Trend-Micro PC-cillin internet security. This is anti-virus and firewall. After the initial cost it costs only $25.00 per yr upgrade. Along with that I have Spybot S&D, CCleaner, Adware SE personal. Spyware blaster, and Microsoft antispyware (all free). My comp stays really clean with this conglomeration.
