I just wanted to see what settings everyone here like to have set on Doom3. Compared with your system specs.

Here is what i have happening:

    Ultra Quality
    1024 x 768
    AntiAliasing 2X

    With a
    XP2400 @ XP2600
    1GB PC3200
    9800 Pro

According to the FPS meter and the built in benchmark i am getting a solid 29fps.

I can play the game with no lag at all. Everything is smooth...and it looks awesome! I had anitaliasing at 4X but i got horrible FPS and it was really laggy.

I was surprised that i could jack up the settings with my card. A guide from anandtech had my card in the medium range with medium settings.

Why do you think i can play soo smoothly with such high settings?

Please post your settings, and system specs. I would love to compare! :)

    Thanks everyone

I just posted a Doom 3 thread about the same same time as this one.....small world! I'm playing about the same as you...(1024x768 high detail 2x anti. , my specs in sig.). I haven't tried 'ultra-high' yet.....I probably will, but then my vid card is only mid-range. I haven't ran the fps benchmark (yet), but I haven't had any problems running the game.....maybe a very minor hiccup/slowdown every great now and then. As I said in my thread.....Id did do a very good job at making such a good looking game run and look good across a broad range of system setups! And again, I need to laugh at all the 'worry-worts' that thought they'd need to invest in a new next generation rig to play!
    Mark.

I don't have it yet, but i have 2.66 Ghz P4, 1 gig PC2700, and an X800 Pro, so I guess I'll play at the highest settings.

Thats cool Dark Oppressor. How is the X800 working for you. Ive been thinking of getting rid of my 9800Pro and upgrading to a X800 or a 6800.

When you get doom3 please let me know what you play it at. Ive heard you can do Ultra Quality with 8X AA. Not to sure about 16XAA. Please let me know what kind of FPS you get. :)

The X800 is AWESOME. All of my games run at like 100 fps and then go down maybe to like 80 when there are ppl and/or battles. I had an Nvidia 5200 w/ 128 Mb before this, so all my games are like new again. And I should be getting Doom III from my friend after he beats it,(He's letting me borrow it.) hopefully this weekend.

Hey thats cool man. :) I would love to have FPS that good. Looks like i would have to turn down my settings though :( Well 33fps is still working out for me anyway.

I also used to have a FX5200. except mine was the Ultra version. I was plowed when i got my 9800Pro. :D Everything just looked so great!

I think im still leaning towards the 6800. Price is my main concern, along with seeing what i can get for my 9800Pro on Ebay.

high quality in doom 3 at 1280x1024, all internal settings turned on, highest texture quality, 16x AF, averaging 60fps with dips to 33 every so often

    Running a 2.8E @ 3.6GHz, 1gb pc4200 RAM, x800 Pro

I have read that AntiAliasing doesnt need to be that high. The game smooths out edges well enough on its own. AA at 4X gives you the same quality as 16X. If i where you IMO i would set it on Ultra Quality and drop the AA down to 4X.

Anti aliasing is actually set to 0, since jaggies aren't a profound problem, but i set anisotropic filtering to the fullest (16x Trilinear) to get the best looking textures.

I borrowed Doom 3 for a little while today just to see it. I set everything to the highest, but every time I go back to the menu it says I'm on 640x480 resolution and AA is off.

i was having the same problem. When you make the changes, make sure you click "Apply settings" Then restart Doom3, and your changes should have taken effect. Before i just made the changes and closed out. Make sure you click Apply. :)
