I've followed the "read me first before asking for support" and have been working on this for a couple of weeks due to lack of computer time.

I'm using Windows XP home, version 6.02900.2180xpsp.sp2, operating version 5.1.260.

I can not get rid of FunWebProducts, which shows up in spybot scans. I've tried it in safe mode, still can't get rid of FWP.

I got through the steps in Scanning and Cleaning Steps and am virus-free.

When attempting to run Adaware in safe mode, computer froze and I ran it in normal mode. I wasn't able to install the DSO exploit patch. I'm also unable to access the VX2 Cleaner plug-in for Spybot.

Today I was looking for other options, but the computer will only let me get to one or two places and it freezes. So I've come here for help.

I had someone helping me with HJT through Tech Support Guy forums - they tried, we ran several HJT scans but I was never able to delete two temporary files, no matter what we tried. I think they gave up on me.

Any ideas how to make things normal again?

I'm very confused, never did this before and feel lost!!!!

    Welcome to MG :)

If you are absolutely sure that you have followed ALL the steps in this Sticky thread READ ME FIRST BEFORE ASKING FOR SUPPORT: Basic Spyware, Trojan And Virus Removal
Then go ahead and read the Hijackthis Tutorial and then attach your log.

I can fully understand your frustrations and know that someone else in another forum has tried to help you with the HJT log but lets take a look at it and see what we can do and go from there.

Make sure you have HijackThis 1.99 and follow the guidelines on where to install it and how to post a log as an attachment. This is all covered in the sticky thread
NO HIJACK THIS LOG FILES BEFORE READING THIS: HJT Tutorial & LOG File Posting

Now post a HijackThis log as an attachment to your message (Do not post the log inline). All running programs should be closed, including your web browser, e-mail. Close before running Hijack This!

To repeat: Do NOT run Hijack This from the Desktop, a temp folder, or a sub-folder of C:\Documents and Settings, or choose to run it directly from the downloaded ZIP file. Place it in its own folder, for example C:\Program Files\HJT

Please also be patient in waiting for replies and responses as there are a limited number of people who are able to help you and as you can see by the posts on this forum there are many people out there who have questions/problems. Thanks and again welcome to MG :)

Also, just so you know Funweb Products is part of Smiley Central so if you still have smiley central installed on your computer you need to uninstall that.

Just a side note I personally do not like smiley central I have tried it and just do not like it as it seems to install too much crap on my computer that my Ad-Aware SE, Spybot Seach & Destroy, & other Spyware removal programs find. So I feel as though its just too much of a pain and hassle to have Smiley Central installed on my computer and risking exposing my computer to other malware/spyware/adware etc crap.

Now here is a link through MG with what Major Attitude had to say about it but like I said I just don't care for it and don't want to risk exposing my computer to additional crap just to use some fun smilies.

    Hope this helps...

thanks, sw, I'll figure all of this out sooner or later.

It was my daughter who got into funwebproducts - yes, from the smiley faces. We did remove smiley central, etc., but we're still being haunted.

I'll post back after I've had the time to go through all of this and thankyou for your help!
