Seems, I'm out of work for a couple of weeks! That is a long time for me. I can't tell my wife, so I will tell you people.
Oh my, I can omly walk my dogs so many times a day....
    I am in a Delema....Did I spell that righr?
Ha ha , it may seem funny, but I am the sort that is scared to leave the house unless I am productive.
    I mean scared!!
I willpeak out windows , then peak again.......
    After that I am lost!\
When I am workin, I can strut around town as if I am the S^%t
    What is with that?
I have 2 weeks to goo before I get more work and I am lonely and scared stuck in my house..
I know that there are issues there, but what, and / or how do I pull it off?
I know for a fact that there are others here that may feel the same way, so fill me in.
People scare me when I am not on top. otherwise............
I also havn't picked up the telephone in about 10 years.
    haha
    can you believe that?
At the same time , a man beat up my wife last year..........well I was not scared then....I politely told him to lay down.
    he did : (
why do I feel like this when I have it all?

Anyone ever feel the same? what do you do to not feel like that?
Sorry to be a big cry baby, but i am lost!!!

    Hi!

Thank you for being so open. I've experienced some of the feelings that you have described too. Looks like we're not alone, eh? I mentioned some of it to my Doctor, and he says that I'm probably experiencing social anxiety, and a couple other anxieties too, lol. We didn't discuss it further, as I was there for another reason, and I felt like I was taking more than my share of the Doctors time.

I think some of it may have to do with being in control in situations that we face. When I'm at work, it's pretty much routine, I know what to expect. Sometimes I feel like I'm on top of the world, that I can accomplish anything. But, to leave the house, has my tummy in knots. If I go shopping, I worry about everything, I get scared of people around me, especially if they look at me. I feel awkward and out of place.

At work, I have some control. Go out of the house for shopping, etc., I'm not totally in control as anything can happen and feel overwhelmed. I don't wash the car in the driveway cause I don't want anyone to see me. If I'm in line at the automatic car wash, I get nervous when another car pulls up behind me.

I've always felt awkward and out of place. I don't know how to change this, it's just a part of life for me. I would suggest that you speak to your Doctor. I know that in itself is a huge step.

I'm sure that we're not the only ones. Take care.

I'm no shrink, but it's pretty common for us to base some or most of our "self-worth" on our jobs. Which is a mistake. Your worth is based on what's inside of you. Your job may, or sometimes may NOT, reflect what you're truly worth. I've taken a couple of truly crappy jobs to put food on the table, until I found something better. And it was tough not letting those jobs impact how I felt about myself.

But more important than your job....
    Is your word good?
Do you do your best at what you do?
    Are you a good friend?
Do you pitch in and help when needed?
Do people trust you? Listen to what you have to say?

All of those things may impact your job, but NONE of them are dependent on your job. You are what you are, whether you're working or not. Remind yourself of that when you're between jobs or stuck in one that you don't like. And if you're NOT those things, work on THOSE instead of polishing your job title. ;)

Jazagod, hey man it has taken guts to post your situation, but don’t think that you are alone, because your not. Most people have had some or all of your symptoms at one time or another. The main thing to do is to see your doctor and do what you have done here, only he/she can get you the treatment you require. You have taken the first step out of your own personal morass, now just keep it up and seek the help you need, hey just thank your lucky stars you live in Canada and it is FREE.

Your symptoms sound like those of a friend, who was told it was Dysthymic Disorder, this link might give you some insight http://www.psychologyinfo.com/ , the following is a short reprint of an article posted there.
Dysthymic Disorder is characterized by chronic depression, but with less severity than a major depression. The essential symptom for dysthymic disorder is an almost daily depressed mood for at least two years, but without the necessary criteria for a major depression. Low energy, sleep or appetite disturbances and low self-esteem are usually part of the clinical picture as well.
People who have dysthymic disorder will often report that they don't recall ever not feeling depressed, but they may be relatively functional in managing their life, although the symptoms are severe enough to cause distress and interference with important life role responsibilities. It is important to have a complete physical to rule out any physical illnesses that might be causing the depression. Also, if the person has a chronic medical condition that appears to be the cause for the depression (such as any chronic debilitating condition), then the correct diagnosis might be a Mood Disorder due to a general Medical Condition, even if all the criteria for dysthymic disorder are met. The question is whether the medical condition is physically causing the depression, rather than creating chronic psychological distress that is causing the depression.
Despite the long term nature of this type of depression, psychotherapy is effective in reducing the symptoms of depression, and assisting the person in managing his/her life better. Some individuals with dysthymic disorder respond well to antidepressant medication, in addition to psychotherapy, so an evaluation for medication may be appropriate. You should consult your psychologist if you have questions about treatment.

Now I am no doctor, but I do know when people are hurting, and man you are! So do me and your wife the favour of calling your doctor, and setting up an appointment. We all want you back to yourself, and posting again at MG. Feel free to PM me here anytime, I’d offer you a brew, but you East Coast boys drink the Moosehead stuff, and us Lotus Land lads only have our “World Famous” Kokanee to offer.:)

Actually I just moved out here from Saltspring Island BC....Um we drink Alexander Kieths.
Thanks for the reply...Maybie I am sphyco( never could spell that word) or whatever.
Also , unlike BC, medical is not the same....It is Costly here.
Off the point, But did you know that Dental in Sask. is completely free....Just like going to a walk in clinic in BC!
Also, It must have done som good to just speel abit, because I bit the bullet, picked up that silly, scary thing called a telephone, and managed to find myself some work for the next couple of weeks until all is back to norm.
I think now after a good sleep, I remember last winter....NO work...Absolutely none for 4 or 5 months....
The bills got way outa hand, VISA cut me....da da da tee da....

though what I said before is a constant... I just also want to get caught up again.
No offence, but I don't totally believe drugs will help. Thats what docs like to push... must be some silly tea I could drink instead of some mind altering anti depresant.
Done enough drugs in my time to know to steer clear. :)
I think GT's comment made me get on the phone.
Thanks again GT for the pick me up!!
    :D

i was told once that the mark of a true artist was that they could draw a perfect CIRCLE freehand.

as to jazagod, you do of course realize that the only way to deal with any phobia is to face it head on? practice making a phone call (to the time clock maybe, or some other machine type thing), then ring someone you know well just for a few minutes to ask how they are. do this once a day and believe it or not in a VERY SHORT TIME your body will readjust your anxiety levels. promise. aloha
