What to learn next?

    Evening,
First of all I should ask how everyone is doing? Been a little while since I was frequent around these forums. Hope all is well.

Now onto the topic at hand:
I've been bored recently and most hardware/software issues people bring me are now simple-ish (they are all generally the same something needs cleaned this piece needs replaced) I'm not saying everyone is simple, but I'm looking for more of a challenge I guess you could say, and I'd also like to expand my repertoire. So I looked through my "old" programming books but what language should I learn next? I don't know any "by heart" (I can't generate code out of nothing- sit down and just start) but I have enough reference material at my disposal I should be alright if I run into an issue.

I know/ have experience (one or more classes throughout high school and college collectively):
    1. HTML
    2. PHP using MySQL
    3. Windows comand line (DOS)
    4. Linux using the Vi editor, (and the other one that I can't recall the name but it was just a command line type)
    5. Adobe Flash (Flash games)
    6. Visual Basic (Disliked it)
    7. Dark Basic (disliked that too)
    8. Unix using Linux

I don't know where to go from there, could someone point me in the right direction? I'm not looking to be the next great programmer, just looking for another challenge.

    Thanks,
    Spock96

With all of the Tablet PCs and Cell Phones out there that run Android, you might want to investigate that.

I had wanted too, just never got around to it, any tips on where to start? Maybe if Adry sees this he can put his two cents in

Java is the basis for Android.
    Objective-c or Swift for iOS.
    .NET for Windows Phone.

To really answer your question, you need to narrow down what you want to to do and the OS it will run on.

    Thanks Adry,
To be honest I'm not looking to do a specific project, I'm just kinda stagnate and wanted to learn something new.

If you have a mac, I'd say learn Swift. Its bleeding edge, considering the IDE needed for it still in a closed beta state.

I don't have a Mac, but I'll still look into Swift.

You would need the Android Development Kit for beginners and depending on how far you wanted to go with it, you may need other plug-ins like the Accessory Development Kit.

Java seems to be a good starter language as well as Python. There is the http://www.codecademy.com/ to learn. Another, I guess you can call it a language is AutoIt. I don't know you exact field of work but I have seen AutoIt used a lot in Admin work for scripting tasks. Its free and has a nice user base for help.

Code academy doesn't go through java, FYI.
