    Howdy

so soonish i should be getting around £150 to £200 from selling my old PS2 and nintendo stuff.

so i was wondering what the best use of this would be.

my pc at the moment is:

    Operating System: Microsoft Windows 98
    Processors: Intel Pentium 4 @ 2.4 GHz
Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce4 MX 440
    Total Physical Memory: 256 MB
Hard Drives: 80 gig and 20 gig IDE
Motherboard Manufacturer: Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd.
    Motherboard Model: GA-8ST800

As i use my PC mainly for gaming/browsing/music i was thinking either

    1. get a new graphics card like a radeon 9800 pro
    2. get windows XP and a lot more ram.

what do you think of those or any other suggestions

If youre into gaming, DEFINATLEY a new graphics card. At least a GF4Ti, if nor a GF FX. ATi Radeons are great too. A 9800 pro would be a big step up.

256MB is probably alright, but XP runs best at 512MB. Get Pro, if you can.

Check your PSU power rating. Does it need changing with the new upgrades in place? If not, if its anything under 350W its probably time to upgrade.

Not sure if you can get all that for £200, but you can certainly try.

I'd agree with goldy, video card first, then XP Pro, then 256 Mb more of RAM.

well my power supply is 250w, so lookls like that might need an upgrade as well.

    so i reakon:
    - a new 400w power supply £60
    - radeon 9800 pro graphics card £130
    - 256MB ram £30

and XP will have to wait for another day as that is a whole extra £100

Good plan, be sure to get a good PS and remember you cannot buy too much power.
That being said, a 500 watt no name power supply is not as good as a 400 watt PC cooling or Antec.

Other than that you got it nailed.
