what type of storage?

I have approx. 1200Gb of files (music, movies, TV programs) that I have collected over the years, and stored off my HDDs, on ~300 DVDs, can anyone suggest a better or best way to store these yet........I still don't understand
why HDDs are so far behind what we require!!
Noting that, to reduce clutter & cables I prefer inside PC, and there will more stuff to be added on an ongoing basis.

Hi

Sadly the next generation DVDs are not out yet that will offer 100s GB of storage space, so HDDs are the way forward, I would likely for what you have get hold of one of the new WD 2TB HDDs or a couple of the 1TB ones, but going with 2TB will offer extra space and later on you can add another, thus cutting down on the space requirements of 1TB drives to get same storage space.

I would have originally suggested NAS (Network Attached Storage) and this one from WD as the solution but your spec is to have this inside case.

So what is your case and how many HDDs can it hold?

I have a 160 & 320 HDD, PC holds two only.
These are nearly full also, so I actually need to store 1700Gb!
I have seen the WD 2TB HDDs you suggest, but v.expensive as they are new / just ot, and I would need 2. Would these work in my PC which is say 5 years old, I've heard of BIOS seeing up to 500Gb only?
I suppose I'll have to wait until the technology arrives.....even then it is not permanent storage on a drive!!!
