I think you need more memory and you can cut down on the processor speed.

Is this just an exercise in theory, or do you intend buying it?

What will you be using the PC for primarily, and how much money do you want to spend?

What is the intended use, ie gaming, general use and internet browsing, video editing etc?

I would say mostly gaming, internet browsing and downloading.

correct im running a 550 chip that i dont even use all of games fly you could probably go with a 520 (not much real world difference)and boost your video and ram. i'm running a gig of value kingston ram and the 6600gt and all works flawlessly
P.S. you could also use a m/b with 925x chipset and still have ddr2 and pci-e and may run you a little less :)

You probably won't like my answer, but I would go with an AMD processor socket 939, coupled with a nForce 4 chipset motherboard.

For hard drive, a Maxtor DiamondMax 10 with 16 mb cache.

For video, probably a nVidia 6600 GT or 6800.

As far as sound is concerned, unless you are very picky, most on-board sound is excellent and very hard to tell over a dedicated sound card.

For DVD burner, either a Pioneer DVR-110 or an LG GSA-4167B. I think the Pioneer is fractionally better, but they are both great drives.
