I am confused as to how i should be logged into Safe mode to be able to use the cleaning steps. Right now, if i hit F8, and go into Safe mode, i don't even need to put in a password and safe mode just comes up. Which user is that? Is that the administrator? If i logout of there, i come up to a login screen asking me to put in my password for the administrator. Why'd it ask it now? Why didn't it ask when i went into safe mode the first time? Reason why ask this is because i tried to run Panda online virus scan when i first booted into safe mode, and that said that i didn't have enought priveliges to use it. So, i had to logout of safe mode, then login again with a password. Then Panda worked. Why is this? Do i have two admin accounts (i only see one)?

Additinally, if there is a user account, would the programs such as ccleaner, adware, etc be able to access files of that account? I thought if you were logged in as a Admin, you can't access a user account's files.

    Thx.

The Administrator account will only show in safe mode and defaults to having no password. You must put in a password for this account. It is a major security risk not to have on on it.

What other user accounts are showing when you boot in safe mode? Only accounts that have admin priviledges will show.

Well, the computer only has two accounts: A User account and a Admin account. Now, in normal mode, i have to always put in my admin password to get in the Admin account. However, if i boot into safe mode, it just goes directly into safe mode without prompting me for a password. I am not sure what user that is, since it never asks for a password.

What you are logging into in normal boot mode is not the Administrator (note the full name Administrator)? You must have another user account you created. What is the actual user name on the account? Is this the only account that appears in normal boot mode? Or are you saying there are two accounts in normal boot mode?

If none of the account you created show in safe mode, that means they do not have administrator priviledges.

Please not these are not Malware Forum related questions. You should be asking these in the Software Forum as this forum is for discussing malware problems and topics.

Oh sorry. I thought since the removal guide mentioned doing all the cleaning in safe mode, maybe this was the proper place to ask the question.

When i go into Control Panel > Admin tools > Local Users and groups > Users, this is what i have:

    ASPNET
Guest (has a red x on it)
    HelpAssistant (has a red x)
    Myname (the only user account)
    Administrator
    Support_388945a0 (has red x)

And thats it. My account and the Administrator account both require passwords to login when i boot in normal mode. However, after rebooting, and hitting F8 and selecting safe mode, windows automatically logs in some account without asking for a password. Does safe mode has its own Admin account? Or the Admin account that i have in normal mode is the one being used? If so, why all of a sudden no need for a password?

You are asking questions that a novice would ask related to using standard Windows procedures. You are not asking about problems related to malware. I'm sorry but these issue do not belong in this forum where we try to focus on malware.

Under normal conditions, the Administrator account only shows in for login in safe mode not in normal boot mode. So if it is showing in normal mode you must have been playing around with your setup. And somehow you now have it showing in normal boot mode but in safe mode you must have setup your options to not require log in. You have been experimenting I guess and this is the end result. You should work these issues out in the Software Forum and then return here when you are ready to working on malware problems. You probably need to boot in safe mode and modify the user account so that it requires login and also you should give it a password if it does not have one.

Do you have malware problems or is this all you were concerned with?
