What was it ????

OK, something happened at the weekend. Someone who is on my messenger contact list did a sig for me to use on a forum.

The next day when he signed on and started an IM convo "accept these" he said. The green bar started moving, but there was no accept/decline. Where those words were it said 'virus'.

I closed the window and blocked him before anything could happen.

Was he intentionally trying to infect me or was he unaware of a possible infection ?

I'm somewhat confused..
