Doing some last tests on an old rig, I think the motherboard is done for. Love vintage computing & I was wondering (since I still have a heap of working cards/parts), just in case my motherboard is *finito. I'd like to buy a used vintage motherboard to replace it with.

That said I was wondering what was the best old school AGP/IDE style motherboard ever made?

I'm sure I could grab it for cheap. Ideally I'm looking for something that has an AGP slot, IDE, Floppy, & lots of ram upgrade room with the fastest processor possible. Not to mention a lot of PCI slots.

Would love some feedback. I'd rather buy a cheap mobo then spend for all new computer parts/everything.

    Thanks

I still use several DFI LanParty boards with ATI's All-In-Wonder TV-capture cards because those offer the best analog TV-signal processings. That AGP card and its software are the key issue, and the motherboards were the last-generation of AGPs.

The best, though? hah... I think "favorite" would be the best-hoped-for notion.

Those boards have RAM limits, HDD capacity limits and PCI-slot limits that remove them from modern-day considerations, though.

I can only wonder what unique services that AGP cards can offer? For me (and among the TV capture crowd), it's the 2nd generation of the ATI All In Wonders.

Wow that board looks pretty good man for some classic stuff. What type of cpu are you using? Do you know the fastest cpu it can handle?

Ya these boards are cheap, I might just grab one of those. My old one seems to be on it's last legs. Any other recommendations are still welcome.
Best one I've seen thus far, I wouldn't know where to start looking alone. But didn't AMD cpus lag behind the performance of Intel cpus?
