What was your first REAL job?

Found the thread Kiwi, and now I get to read what all the excitement is about!

I was a hostess at a restaurant/bar & grill chain called "Bennigans'." I was all of 17 years old but had to actually card everyone (my friends included) at the door after 1 AM! (That went over really well, I guess I don't have to tell you how popular that made me in high school!) I had to card people because this was an establishment that catered to families during the day and adults at night. We were open until 4 AM but the company wanted to promote a more mature atmosphere after 1 AM and wanted no business from the teenagers or nearby college students after that given time. Why they hired a 17 year old to help police the joint and kick out those under 21 is anyone's guess, perhaps I just had a nasty attitude?

Too bad Bennigans is anything BUT a "good Irish pub".

 

i was a stockboy/bagger/janitor/ and whatever else was needed that day at a local grocery store. i had more fun at that job then anywhere else i've worked since.
