I played RoM for awhile and enjoyed it. Very friendly community, and it seemed a bit more mature than average for MMOs as well. Still have it installed actually, I might go back at some point... :)

Homeworld complete! Cataclysm half way through :D
The credits of homeworld had a prog rock song that I think is now one of my most listened. Homeworld (The Ladder) by Yes.

Dont you just Love game soundtracks?

I have that for my ps3. Its a decent enough game, just stopped playing for some odd reason.

Blind Guardian doing the soundtrack just rocks and if you read the quest text, sometimes they refer to a blind guardian concert coming to town.

    Just hilarious

Sneaking my way through Thief: Deadly Shadows...again...

  6. Mimsy

Fun fact: Thief was the first game ever to feature the ability to lean and peek around corners. :)

Thank you, Lady Mimsy: I just about spewed my keyboard...:p:-D:p

Fun fact: Thief(s) 1, 2 and 3 were the first games to RKMA (Royally Kick My ***)...

I like the Thief franchise. Garrett is one of the best protagonists ever ("I bet he's never even opened one of these..." while creeping through filthy rich noble man's library LOL ), and the whole premise is genius. It's about not getting into fights, instead finding other methods to get the job done.

They were first with that too, I believe. :)

This is the first sneaky game that i actually enjoyed. Very well done, but yet again another game i never finished.

    I think i have a problem finishing.....

Me, either...I finished #1, but not the others...

Try it "Lytha"-style: can't kill, and you run through the levels as fast as you can - makes for a whole new experience...

I enjoyed Sacred 2 to an extent. I've always wanted to play the thief series, ust haven't had chance yet.
DDO is really good when you get into a good guild. I'm sill on it and Ansalon MUD. And just finished Dragon age awakenin again. Been thinking about going thru Neverwinter nights 2 in the next little while.

The really cool thing about Thief were the vast amount of mods available - between Thief and Half-Life, I've got about 4 gigs of mods, many of them quite good - and some of the names!

Hush, Hush, Sweet Harlot...Cathedral Of The Damned...Fireshadow's Barrow...The Monastery of St. Fera...and the list goes on...

  14. Caliban

Constantly replaying Soldier of Fortune II: Double Helix - there's something to be said about using real weapons against real people in real scenarios...

    Well, up to a point...:major

  15. teh_crunch

Some of those half life mods are fantastic!
Thief is a game I think I may have form the first PC I ever bought with my hard earned paper round money!
Methinks I have to go digging...

    I just stumbled across this thread . . . so, I'm playing:
    Metro2033
    CoD: MW, MW2, WaW
    Battlefield Bad Company2
Left4Dead 1 & 2 (I just LOVE killing zombies in single player mode!)
Played FEAR and FEAR2 enough to make 'em boring (I guess #3 is coming out in 2011)
I know they're old, but I simply cannot stop playing Serious Sam 1st Encounter (re-released in HD recently) and Serious Sam 2. Cheezy humor, but some of the funnest, craziest shooting ever!! And the freekish monsters!!! I used an "all weapons" cheat and having that full gatling gun is AWESOME!!!

Oh, I also play Sniper Ghost Warrior a bit, and a friend got sick of Resident Evil 5 and gave it to me, so I just started playing that too....
    ;)

roflmao That's just T O O F U N N Y ! ! ! Every time I describe this game to someone that hasn't heard of it, I think back to the the very first time I played the first Serious Sam... I had it on a PC with a rockin' speaker system, and I can still hear the headless screaming guys with cannonballs for hands screaming from a distance and it scared the :crap out of me! You could hear 'em coming before you could see 'em, and as they got closer, they'd get louder, and louder, and LOUDER, and LOUDER, and LOUDER, and then they were in your face, screaming their headless heads off!!!! Throwing cannonballs at you!!! TOO FREEKIN CRAZY!!!! I love it!! Like I said, I still play SS1 and 2! Too much fun! I still get chills just thinking about that first Serious session.....

(I think I'll play right now, since I'm getting all nostalgic and everything ;) )

(I think my avatar shows the impact the game has had on me LOL )

One of my favorite aspects of both Serious Sam games. That and the best graphics for a 20 dollar game.

So you're saying it's worth buying then? :innocent

I've been eyeing it for weeks, but I have such a huge backlog as it is... :(

I have finally, several months after the rest of the world, beaten Dragon Age. Take THAT, massive archdemon-thing! :p

I am now in the process of creating a new character, so I can play through it again... this time as a human wizard. :)

    lol

But yes, i think serious sam's games are worth every penny you pay for them. Theyre cheap, esp since the first one has been out forever, im sure you can get it for 10 bucks or less.

I also like the fact that the game company that put out those games proves you can put out a quality, graphically excellent game and not have to pay 60 bucks for them just because thats what everyone else charges.

Recently tried out Metro 2033, not overly impressed, not bad but nothing to write home about , also had a play with Mafia 2 , great game but lacking free roam, while you can roam free, there's nothing to do, but a great game none the less.
Also played Sniper: Ghost Warrior and was majorly let down, I finally thought I was going to get another chance to play a good sniper game (last one was Sniper Elite) and while it is a good game the slo-mo scoping is idiotic, makes everything waaaay too easy.
And recently gone back to Brothers In Arms: Hells Highway.... awesome story, awesome gameplay...awesome game.
Finally tried Kane and Lynch 2, total garbage, nice ideas on the camera shake etc but OTT and the aim system seems random whether you hit or not, not impressed at all.
Still need to finish my world domination on Civ 4 and Empire total War and Mimsy keeps going on about Dragon age so I might just have to pull that one up again :-D

I just unwrapped a big box from Amazon -- my Thermaltake laptop cooling pad! Obviously I have to test it very thoroughly, by playing more Dragon Age. LOL

Also just started Portal. I'm in test chamber 8, or 9... can't remember... the one with the green-brown deadly gunk on the floor. I love intelligent games, and this one is.

Not bad? Portal is one of the most innovative, intelligent and addicting games ever made..... also the computer voice is a little freaky. Loved every minute of that game, unfortunately the replay value is low unless you leave a few months between so you forget how you did it lol

Nothing, not playing a thing... plastic sucks. :mad

@blatherbeard... I didn't play the first one so I don't think it matters in terms of story because I understood it fine, but aparently it was a good game so any good game is worth playing ;) ....but do you need it?... I'd say no.

I dunno Mimsy, you don't know this laptop, it struggles with Theme Hospital lol

Edit: Yeah just looked up the mim sys requirements and I don't meet the RAM :-D 256 required I only have a working 192, I really mst get round to upgrading this RAM lol

  39. Mimsy

Mimsy Superior Imperial Queen of the MG Games Forum

    Baldur's Gate minimum system requirements:
Windows XP or Windows Vista, 1 GHz Processor (1.4 GHz recommended), 256MB RAM (512 recommended), 3D graphics card compatible with DirectX 7 (compatible with DirectX 9 recommended), Mouse, Keyboard.

If your laptop really is that bad, I will cry a bit more for you... :p

    EDIT:
Yikes, I just saw your edit about RAM count. Never mind... and good lord that's bad, by the way. RAM isn't exactly expensive these days.

I recently left the GameCube in the closet, and ran the latest Dolphin build, 2.0, Vista x64.

It plays the classic Metroid Prime series rather nicely, and I'm looking for a reliable BlueTooth adapter (USB), as Wii controllers are Bluetooth capable, and Dolphin emulates Wii games as well.

Might be interesting to see how the Wii looks and feels emulated with higher grade hardware...

I can run Theme Hospital though and I quite like that game, it's not quite Sims 3 bt it's ok, Ooo and I could replay all the MCF games..... Oh and Monopoly.......dear god...
