Well 240 was the limit for my computer at the time which was an A3500 winchester@2.6ghz/6800GT,my older A1700+?5700FX could handle about 100+ satchels before locking up.

I'll have to try and run it again see how my new I7 quad handles the explosions.

Guild Wars, Starcraft II, Burnout Paradise and Trackmania United Forever.

I really recommend Trackmania, even if you don't want to pay there is a free version available from their website.

    Also, Sauerbraten.

The pre-ordered copy of Assassins' Creed: Brotherhood arrived in the mail today. To our great surprise, Gamestop came through and delivered on release day. Kudos to Gamespot. :)

I've missed Ezio... he is so much more fun to hang out with than Altair was.

I just looked up Arma 2...that game looks crazy! More like a simulator than an actual game...but still, I want to play it.

  7. Nedlamar

    Nedlamar MajorGeek

It is a simulator, no regenerating health or perks or anything else, just you, your team, your weapons, a map and your cunning ;)

Black Ops is almost upto smooth running both MP and SP, so for anyone wondering if an AMD Athlon X2 6000+ will run it.... the answer is yes, on med to high specs depending on the rest of your system :)

    Kotaku on DA 2.

Im not happy about the gameplay decisions that have been made. I dont know if i will buy it.

The website says its still DA and awesome but just the fact they are going away from top down is irritating as hell for me. I can see a TPs game like ME having an over the shoulder view, but not this kind of game. yeah they say you can zoom out but not UP. But how much? Faster gameplay? does that mean we're getting basically an action rpg? (which i cant STAND).

ah well, i guess ill just wait for you guys and all my friends to play it first.

Last I heard, DA 2 is keeping the isometric view for PC, though that was a while ago.

I would find it very sad if they screwed up this superb game.

I've held of playing Mass effect 2 as I fancied a changed from space so bought Fallout 3,invested 14 hours into it so far and only scratched the surface.

The RPG is great just what I've always wanted a decent real world RPG with projectile weapons,I hate fantasy. If I have a complaint its that the gunplay is stupid simplistic and the Oblivion engine sucks at fast paced shooting,free-ability of movement isn't great and there's a slight control delay when firing the weapons.

It also suffers from bad micro stutter out of the box even with the latest 1.7 patch installed so I've downloaded FOSE and ran the BETA Fallout 3 stutter remover which totally clears it up, I was really impressed and kinda shocked Bethesda hasn't yet fixed this problem in 5 years, its actually the same micro stutter from Oblivion so they've re worked the mod to work with Fallout.I believe New Vegas also suffers from it too, anyone reading who wants more info about this issue just ask.

But! Really enjoying the game now most of the kinks have been ironed out,it looks great on my 480GTX as its a 2 year old game so I can max everything and have 8AA and 8TA ,which is awesome after playing Stalker Clear sky and shadow of Chernobyl.I got to the end of clear sky and had the most frustrating time with the end of game level then got stuck behind some pipes which meant I'd have to go back and repeat one of the worst buggy experiences of my life:cry I was so pissed I exited, uninstalled and deleted my save games all within 5mins:cool I'm such a badass...

None of the problems with Fallout 3 are deal breakers if your reading this and wondering I just wish they weren't there, its still the best RPG I've probably EVER played apart from Deus Ex.

Im still trying to figure out why all you high end graphics card users have all these problems with games. Ive got a 3 year old 4850HD(albeit not on all high settings) that ive never had any kind of issue with Fallout 3, but everyone else i know who has a "better" Vid card than me has had some serious, and not so serious, issues with that game.

As for the isometric view, as of August 7th this year, it was no.

  13. Mimsy

Mimsy Superior Imperial Queen of the MG Games Forum

Because the gamebryo engine is four years old, was buggy to begin with, and unlike for example the unreal engine, no one else uses it so Bethesda doesn't get enough feedback on the engine to know where the serious flaws are.

Everyone I know who has a completely smooth Fallout 3 or New Vegas experience is playing it on older hardware.

And I don't have problems "with games". I have problems "with Bethesda's gamebryo games". Starcraft II, Dragon Age, The Witcher, Mas Effect, the Civilization games and all my other PC games run fine on my computer.

Also, that sucks about the isometric view. I like isometric! :(

Sweet gigantic mother load of massive loot! :eek

CDPR just announced what's going to be included in the "regular" edition of The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings. All this at regular price! If you order from GOG.com you get even more extra goodies from them, some of it accessible as soon as you've placed our pre-order. And no DRM in the game at all, because apparently CDPR thinks DRM is stupid and pointless. :)

I remember why I like this company now.

The Premim edition is for regular price. The Collector's Edition is... brace yourself... $130. Still, Premium Edition at regular price isn't exactly skimping on extras.

I am currently in the process of trying to find out if the US version of the game will be lame-censored garbage like last time, or if I get the full game.

Oh, well that makes more sense. I saw the "Standard price" tag and I thought it meant regular price.

  18. Rikky

The problem in question is related to a FPS discrepancy between the game engine and your monitor,if you can't run the game constantly over 64fps with vsync on you won't experience this problem.

    Generally though I think there are two different mentalities when PC gaming,the first is;

"I just hope this game will run on my computer."

    the second is;

"I've just paid more for my computer than IBM paid for Deep Blue,if this game doesn't look perfect and digitally transport me to better world where I'm Hero of a civilization then re mortgaging the house would have been a bad idea."

Thats a generalisation and largely incorrect, I used to play F3 on an ATI X1950pro (about 2-3 years prior to the 4850) and I had all the same problems, random crashes, frame drops, screen tears etc, the only thing that changed when I went upto the 4890 was I could run it maxed out.... but still had all the same problems, and then my son played it on a 4850 and had the same problems, but like Rikky they never bothered me because the game is good enough to overlook them :)

    @liisyaoron... Welcome to MG's :)

Halo! Dude you absolutely HAVE to get MW2 to continue the MW story, online or not I think the MW story is awesome. And yes, Black Ops worth the play too, excellent game and beleive me, comming from me about a Treyarch game.... thats pretty good lol

Sorry Ned, it was WM2 I have and completed, so I need to get MW Black ops now, so will do at some point next week. I'm not a great gamer these days but do like games like this that hold my attention. Do need a good god type game, space type or Civ type I dunno as yet.

Ah ok, well Black Ops is nothing to do with the MW story, BO is set in the 60's around Vietnam, well worth a play but MW3 is in the works and will finish the trilogy.

Played "Enter The Matrix" last night, my local game shop is closing down and they owed me $140 for trade in's and everything is half price.
So I picked up 4 PS3 games for the boy and a handful of older PC games, including Enter The Matrix.
I can honestly say it was worth every penny........all $4 of it :-D
Very repetitive, basically run around a building looking for a door, beat up and shoot guards in slow mo...... rinse, repeat, oh and the control system is the twitchiest I've ever seen.
It's not bad but it's not good either lol

I picked up Recettear with the Indie Story Pack from Steam's most recent sale, and it's hugely addictive!

Basically you're playing a standard Japanese RPG, like Secret of Mana or Breath of Fire, but you're the item shop owner. The whole game is essentially a business sim of sorts, with dungeon crawling thrown in now and then, as a great way of building inventory. Why buy your merchandise when you can go to the dungeon and loot it from dead monsters, and sell your wares with a 100% profit? ;)

    This is disturbingly entertaining. LOL

Actually I just discovered STALKER after finishing, loving and shitting my pants to on numerous occasions, Metro 2033. I was also walking past our games cabinet at work the other day when something caught my eye, I walked back and realised it was an game in part of a series that I haven't seen before, I quickly get the keys (as it's the last one), open the cabinet, squeezing past the young boys looking at in and discussing how they were going to get their mothers to buy it for them, and apologizing to them explaining it has already been sold to a very excited customer and put it away for myself xD

This lovely game being Assassins Creed: Brotherhood :-D:-D:-D:-D:-D:-D:-D:major:major:major:major:major:major:major:major:major:cool:cool:cool:cool:cool:cool:cool:cool:cool:drool:drool:drool:drool:drool:drool:drool:heart:heart:heart:heart:heart:heart:heart:hyper:hyper:hyper:hyper:hyper:hyper:hyper:neener:neener:neener:neener:neener:neener:neener:celebrate:celebrate:celebrate:celebrate:celebrate:celebrate:celebrate:heli:heli:heli:heli:heli:heli:heli

Yea, I loved it, it really makes you jump outta your seat sometimes, it's just one of them games that if you play it on an awesome 1920x1080 24" Samsung, with 3D Creative surround sound headphones, pitch black and 12 midnight and if your like me and you really get drawn into a game, you WILL almost crap yourself lol.

Has anyone tried "The Hunter"? You need a decent graphics card to fully appreciate the environments and the pace may be a bit slow for fans of FPS's but it is the most realistic hunting game I've seen. Do a search on Youtube for some footage.

  46. Mimsy

I started playing Lord of the Rings Online earlier today, and it's surprisingly fun. I'm playing as an elven hunter (the class is modeled after Legolas) so I'm sniping the monsters from afar and occasionally cutting them open when they get too close. I also want to play a dual-axe wielding dwarf champion, and I am quite grumpy that they won't let me play as a female dwarf.

Fin so far. The lore and settings is based on Tolkien's books a lot more than on the movies, which is good. There is a Minstrel classes that was inspired by Luthien Tinuviel... I'm very interested in giving that one a try.
