  1. What's faster a 2.8 celeron or a 2.6 P4? I know a celeron has a 128 L2 cache and the p4 has a 512. But is the p4 faster? I had a 2.4 dell inspiron with a 2.4/400/512 478 pin CPu that seemed way faster then the 2.8 celeron of the same pin set and FSB. I just re-installed Xp Pro on a 2.8 celeron Hp laptop and it sems SOOOOOO Slow!!? I figured it would be faster. It has 1G of memory also. Would me buying a 2.6 or 2.8 P4 make that much a differance?confused

2.8 vs. 2.6 clock in this case is much less important than the cache because of the inefficient board design. Think about how much more processing has to occur because your L2 misses so much more often with only 128k. 2.6 with 512 is MUCH faster.

simpsonseric is right on the mark. Not enough of a speed difference to overcome the cache size difference.
