What do you keep on your "fix it all" thumb drive? I have a 2 gig and I am trying to restock it. I used to have a ton of good stuff but I am drawing a blank.

I keep all my downloads from 2006 and 2007, to date, on my 2 gig USB, plus copies of any other vital stuff that I don't want to recreate.
I also copy vital stuff from My Documents folder to another folder on my C: drive in case I stuff up, or lose, part or all of the contents of My Documents. Bazza

I keep every thing that is mentioned in the malware forum readme. And I also have all that stuff in a network shared folder in case the USB drivers are not there or corrupted.

    Good topic :)

Mine has MS Word and PDF copies of the Malware cleanup guide from here, plus all the tools mentioned in the guide. ( includes freebie versions of AV, Firewall, Antispyware apps to install on PCs I may have to fix )

A few of the portable apps like, Firefox, 7-Zip, Filezilla. Foxit PDF reader.

It has copies of the standalone MS Office reader apps, incase a PC doesnt have office and XNView a multi format image reading and converting app, it also allows basic/mid advanced editing of images too.

Two file recovery apps PCInspector File Recovery and PCInspector Smart Recovery.

A set of guides, tips and tweaks I typed up for XP and Vista.

Plus some music and my work related documents and presentations.

Pen drives, jump drives, flash drives...all the same thing really Laurie :)

I keep my accounts on mine. After the laptop went down and I had to start again, I have back ups upon back ups of the finance stuff. Also work documents that I need to move between home and work.

it was a joke....but sometimes things are lost in translation.

seriously though...i must sort out back-up for my puter. i take it that this is the new way...as opposed to CD's? i am expecting mine to simply pack up one day, and although i already have all the photos backed up to cd, i have files and stuff i wouldnt like to lose. however that is a thread for another day! meanwhile, back in the middle of nowhere, we have funny weather going on. (the wind is coming from the wrong direction) so im gonna have to shut down. (its always a bad sign when the lights start flickering!!) see you tomorrow folks.

Visual Studio solutions and all my notes from every class that I have taken in college so far. I'm going to keep an eye on this thread though. It looks like I might have to add a few things. ;-)

Huh...apparently I'm the only one who backs up to a separate actual hard drive. I only use my thumb drive to move files from one machine to another, then I delete them.

Of course, most of the files I'm moving are sensitive and/or restricted from the public, so leaving them on a thumb drive would be not only foolish but would get me in trouble...

@ Sgt.Tibbs:- Yeah, I jhave a seperate 250GB USB drive for big stuff.;)

Thumb Drives?:- Depends which one. I have about five of them. One has a heap of A/V and antispyware stuff. Another has a lot diagnostic tools and commonly needed drivers and codecs. Basically, these drives are for on-site computer maintenance jobs. Another has critical documents, emais and some other files I need to keep secure. Another has some pics. and music stuff.

Oh yeah, a fifth one has a bootable version of XP on it.

I have one 128mb that has all my malware fighting tools on, for house calls...another 128mb that I use for moving files from one system to another...another 128mb that I use traveling with (i.e...going to see my parents and soemtimes my dad and I will swap files, photos, etc., etc.!!!) Then I got the Big boy...4gig, that has sat on the desk totally empty since I've gotten it!! Haven't exactly figured out what to do with it...and I had to get it because it was an outstanding deal!!!!
