i just got my Titan Nk34TZ yeasterday, its doing better than i thought and the better than most of the reviews out there, my temps right now are about 25 C, light task (websurfing, music etc etc...i guess its almost like idle) It does its job under load too, about 34-40 C. But right now im on 2.8ghz and when ever i try to reach for 3.0 it would crash about 4 mins into orthos blended stress test, but the last temp i saw right before the crash was about 35 C. The thing im worried about is my North bridge is breaking 50, could this be contributing to my crash??

Voltages ? The chipset temp isent to bad, but its not so great either. Id say its border line it could be making for the instability.

voltages, i set it up on auto in the bios, but according to CPUZ my psu is pumping about 1.050v to my cpu.

    btw this is my spec

    Intel Core 2 Duo e6300 @2.8 (410x7) ghz with Titan Nk34TZ
    Gigabyte GA 965P-DS3 rev3.3
    A-Data DDR2-667 512x2 Ram
    WDC WD1600JS (160.0GB)
Geforce 6200tc (untill the April 17th, fingers crossed ><)

ehhh...that northbridge is a bit high IMO, mine runs around 30C and below

try setting it one notch above 1.05 (i couldnt find the stock voltage for the e6300) and see if it boots. my rule of thumb, from MaximumPC, is dont up the voltages more than 15% over stock

well....aparently, in the bios i have it on auto and when in load the voltage goes all the way up to 1.3...my friend says thats still not nearly enough... cud that be whats causing me to crash?

yeah, most likely, but it could also be that your PSU cant handle it. what PSU do u have/how many watts does your PSU put out?

AOpen AO400 -12ALN, its not bad...at least i dont think, i think its my voltage settings, any one give me a heads up on how much shud i increase?

WOW thanx, thats a nice bit of info! I just hit the 3.0ghz mark by changing the voltage to 1.4...maybe i'll lower it and try, thanx again!

yeah, only raise the voltage enough to keep stability. it may seem like a good idea to add a bit more for possible extra stability, like some breathing room, but any extra voltage will shorten you CPU's lifespan though its usually not noticeable because you'll upgrade before it ever dies

urgh...how does ram timings effect oc?

  12. viper_boy403

loosen your timings (increase the number) and it should help your OC. Im not really up on DDR2 timings but for example: my DDR ram runs stock at 2-2-2-6. my proc runs stock at 3.0ghz. im running my proc at 3.6 with my memory at 2.5-3-3-6.

When you raise the FSB you also OC the memory. Set the memory at a lower frequency so when you raise the FSB it will clock the memory back up to near stock speeds.

this is probably petty confusing, if you have AIM or something i could walk you through it much faster. if you need me to clarify anything, just ask. im not the best at explaining this lol, it would be easier hands-on but we'll have to make do :D

have you read ACE's article that's pinned at the top of the OC forum?

yeah i have read aces guide....tad confusing even with the holy grail of memory guide....

yea the holy grail confused the crap outta me lol

well....ram timing isnt that important, from what ive heard they give only little boost to preformance lol

on cpuz i noticed it recognised my ddr2 667 ram as 533, is it becuz of the ram timing or ratio??

is your memory frequency set on Auto? if ti is it will automatically drop the speed to compensate for the OC.

my memory frequency is altered through my memory multiplier and right now its set on 2.0 and the frequency says its 858 right now

i tried to oc it to straight to 3.2 and i got the blue screen of death.... :(
