Can't believe no one as mentioned Americas Army. 2.4 version now available with the new graphics engine and best of all its a free download, be advised your better off with broadband as it's a large file but it can be purchased on cd i beleive.

Definitely CS:Source, although the newest Mortal Kombat is pretty fun

 

im playing jedi academy now, but im stuck on the lvl with the speeders where you have to meet the contact

Out of all the games I've purchased the one I get the most use out of (as far as multi-player games go) is "Celtic Kings: Rage of War." My sons and I play it over our home LAN. It's probably pretty tame compared to other games mentioned here, but we enjoy it's simplicity and strategic aspects.
The kicker is I only paid $6.99 for it at Half Price Books in the software section!

I'm hooked on World of Warcraft, personally. Haven't played another game either on the computer or any of my game systems since I installed it several months ago.

I pretty much only play MMORPGs and only one at a time usually. When I lose interest in one, I try another. Sometimes I go back to one I played before.

Currently playing EVE Online. Was playing Guild Wars before that and World of Warcraft before that. And before those, it goes through too many games finally starting with Asheron's Call (my first MMO). I'm almost ready to give WoW another spin. Almost.

 

CS:Source. Got hooked playin when it was 1.3 and been playing steady ever since. Have BF2 but just haven't given it enough time to give an honest opinion. CoD is pretty fun online as well...

I think you hear from the wrong people, since BF2 is frustratingly buggy, and CS:S has never been glitchy other then in beta.

Source not glitchy my ass, there's so many f*cking glitches in source... you really have no idea if you think otherwise.
Anyway, I still love it, it's good fun, but fark is it glitchy.

 

half life 2 , counterstrike and starcraft

 

I had it for 3-4 months before I gave up on it, got boring.

i counter strike is the gayest thing ever! that those sobs had to make steam a requirement. steam, totally screwed up my computer. i had to reformat my harddrive, because after i install counterstrike, condition zero, my cpu was ssssssssssssllllllllllllllllllloooooooooooowwwwwwwww, and now its fast! down with steam! i would say unreal tournament is the best game, in my opinion. i tried going from unreal to the new medal of honor, and it seemed like everything was in slow motion.

Personally im a big COD and COD:UO fan.
Back in the day i used to play HL deathmatch and TFC alot.
I ordered Guild Wars a few days ago and im hoping it will be good because ive heard alot about it.

UT2004 is also brilliant but it gets a bit frustrating for me. I like it for a quick DM but other than that . I like COD cause its not as fast paced as UT, you have time to think and it requires alot more skill then UT. UT is mainly everyone running around in a mad frenzy.

Different games for different people i say.

 

I personally don't mind steam. It's not perfect, but I give them props for trying something different.

As for the best mp game out there, I think that Half-life is way up there. Not so much for the actual half-life multiplayer but for all of the mods that have been put out for it. Also, #s don't lie, at almost any time there are at least 40,000 players playing half-life and its mods.

I'm also a huge fan of ut2k4 and the battlefield games.

 

As an out of the box thought I wouldnt be suprised if chess is up there with the most played games on the internet,great for guys on dialup

ahhh dialup brings back the memories of my first internet connection. Connection maxed out at about 3kbps and the sad thing was that was fast back then. lolz. I was always saying come on hurry up with my downloads but the strange thing is that even though my connection is now something like 100 times faster im still saying come on hurry up.

 

way back then I used to have netzero when it was completly free, i had a speed of 10k download and 5k upload which was xtremely fast for that time, my ping in games used to be <100 all the time.

 

I remember playing Magestorm and Aliens Online way back when on Dial-up.. No lag whatsoever. Sucks that broadband is starting to be the required connection for online games anymore ( I finally moved and was able to get DSL , WOOOOT! )

Anyways.. I would advise people to stay away from BF2. I have gone through 3 copies just to have all 3 cd-keys become invalid after patches or magicly become invalid the next day. Not to forget to add that at 500 points a day it would take you 194 years to reach the highest rank and most of the guns are extremely underpowered. I have hit a guy in the head 4 times and still not kill him.

I would have to say that Joint Operations is currently the best FPS out.. Infact all of Novalogics games are very good and the most underrated of any war games.

 

Delta force 2 was great. That is one of the games that originally got me into online gaming. Joint Operations is awesome as well. 100 people on a server is so much fun.

 

I remember the first game I played online yup Delta force ,on pay as you go dial up about 5k,I remember getting into the action and finding an enemy guy behind a sanddune and unloading what seemed like a full clip into him and seeing the blood fly off,I thought yes! my first kill,he then fired a couple of shots and killed me,I thought WTF?these were the next lines of chat

I then disconnected in a rage,it was of course my first introduction with something called PING also known as LAAAAAG!,that single experience put me off multiplayer gaming for a year or two.

I also freakin hate snipers,if everyone was a sniper,nothing would happen,everyone would just lie on thier bellies until the end of the round,no offence M8

 

Yeah snipers are annoying......I usually am sniped whatever game i play....

I'm with you on that (especially onslaught on Cain's lair server). Spending most of my gaming time in EQ2 though. REALLY great game!
