I havnt been in many fast cars the fastest being one of my friends 1980 2.0 Turbo Subaru's which could hit 60mph in about six seconds, the only other thing I have riden than comes close is a 1997 kawasaki KX 250 motocross bike that was race tuned,it wasnt the same kind of thrill as being accelerated forward in a seat though, more a case of hold on for your life and dont open the throttle fully in the first three gears or it'd flip or rip your arms out the sockets,a few times up and down the track and your arms ache like you'v just been weight training :)

I havnt been on any modern roller coasters either, the Top thrill dragster for example can accelerate you to 120mph in 4 secs:eek: Anyone rode this coaster, what does it feel like

Ive once been in a Porshe Cayman, which went from 0 to 60 in 5.2 seconds and the driver went up to 110 miles on an open stretch of road. It wasnt like a rollercoaster, but it was still fast.

Back in the seventies I and a partner raced 1/4 mile with a Modified Hemi Cuda. I remember my best time in the car was 9.19sec. I don't remember the MPH but it was well over a hundred. If it wouldn't have gotten so expensive, I would still be doing it today.

Been in a few sub-six-second 0-60 cars, not mine darn it. LOL. My old Kawasaki 550A1 Sport did the quarter mile in the mid 12 second range.

But acceleration can be expressed in G-force as well as time-to speed, and the highest acceleration, and the wildest ride, was in a Hawker Sea Fury; a 1947 vintage British navy fighter. Where I used to work, at an aircraft maintenance facility, one of our wealthier (est?) customers was part of an air museum group and owned 3 of them, two flyable and one basket case used for spare parts. One of them had a jump seat crammed in behind the pilot, and a modified bubble canopy to make a bit of headroom for the passenger. One Saturday when I was working, he offered me a ride in it and I jumped at it. Got out over country, and did loops, rolls, and a highly illegal pass down the runway at the small ucontrolled airport where he kept several of his planes, 20 feet off the runway at over 400 knots. And a 6 G pull up at the end of the runway and straight up for a couple thousand feet until it ran out of steam and he had to push it over into horizontal. Awesome aircraft. The loops and rolls didn't bother me; I used to love roller coasters, but that 6 G pull up started my stomach protesting a little. Not enough to turn green or lose my lunch, but I was just as happy we only did one of those. At 6 G's, he was being kind to me. The plane was not G limited in any axis; pilot was guaranteed to pass out before the airplane broke, but he didn't want to risk me puking in his very expensive airplane. LOL.

Stock photo attached. I wasn't much of a shutter bug back then, and don't have pictures of HIS. Darn it. That's one ride I won't forget. :)

I just wanted to see how fast I could go and besides, I wasnt under the influence or anything and I was under supervision. It was one hell of a ride.

I dont think im invincible I am a good driver and I abide by all the laws (sometimes  ) and just cause im still young doesnt mean Im a crazy teenager who has no respect for any life besides my own.

I'm sure you are (a good driver)....I wasn't suggesting otherwise. I just do not want to hear of another foolishly wasted young life .....I guess it was my way of saying to you and all the others out there that you are cared about and need to "think" before you "drink".....(and have a backup plan).

My "rite of passage" was jumping out of perfectly good airplanes. Talk about speed!!!

please tell Tim,I'v always wanted to go skydiving, did you jump static line or free fall:confused: how does it compare to that rush you get on steep drop on a rollercoaster  does it last for the first few secs as you reach terminal velocity or all the way down

This was back in college ....(with the Wright Bros. LOL) ...and the first three jumps were on a static line (for those who might freak!!) ....it would weed out a few of the "just curious" types .... after that, you pulled your own (and packed your own too ...though not the reserve - that had to be done by certified people - of course, some thought anyone that did this was certifiable!!)
Yes, the stomach came up through the mouth and nose for the first/initial second or two , more profound than a rollercoaster....then it was basically senseless ...no feeling of dropping ...but very manuverable in "flight".

They took us over the Washington State Mts. dumped us outta fully functioning C-130, and said see ya in two weeks...

Wicked, danged cold, and the roar of the wind past your ears left'em ringin' for a few hours...;)

'Prolly when I fell off the roof as a teenager. I didn't like the sudden stop much, though. Other than that - various jet planes - whatever speed they were doing.
