About 3 years ago I bought a CD burner. And it was used to simplt backup and copy audio cd's for my car. Due to an accident to my computer I was forced to upgrade to XP as my os. This made my CD burner obsolete. I looked for an upgrade but the company does not offer one for my particuler burner. That means I am forced to go out and purchase the newest version of this software. What say you??? should I purchase the newer software because the company decided not to giveme support?

I agree with scouse, I have had to buy newer software for same reasons more than once and I consider it part of using computers where todays best becomes tomorrows hasbeens. It's just part of being a computer user.

I thought XP has it's own CD burning software built in.

Yes it does, but is licensed from Roxio and we all know how good that is. It can't do very much.

The inbuilt copy soft ( from Roxio ) in XP is OK for just backing up data... but backing up whole disks then either Nero 6 or Roxio EZCD 6 are both compatable with XP

I use Nero 6 at present but still use Roxio's Drag to Disk ( better known as Direct CD ) for CDRWs.

Did you try the Program Compatibility Wizard?? I HAS worked for me. Not all the time, but with some software.

Prolly be able to find a compatible CD burner for pretty cheap, Ken... depending on how much money you have to spare, and it sounds like you're not happy about having to buy a new burner, I'd consider getting a used one somewhere... I'd be careful when purchasing used hardware, though.
