Each and every time I attempt to download apps from google play store, instead of showing app being installed on my laptop, it ALWAYS shows download device as "ONEPLUS A5000"??? Why and how can I fix it? Thanks

If you are trying to install Android apps to your Windows laptop you can't. ONEPLUS A5000 is an Android mobile phone, is that your phone?

Unless your laptop is a chromebook with googleplay on it, android apps are for android devices NOT Windows devices.

Hi Thanks for replying to my thread, NO! ONEPLUS A5000 is definitely not my phone, the best I can do is an Iphone8!!!In fact I have no idea where that device ID came from?
Perhaps if I explain what I am attempting to do, you could advise?
In my car I have an Android 8 media device, which carries media, sat nav and many other feature's. However many of the apps are badly out of date and require replacing, as they no longer operate, for example if I click on any google app it states unable to connect with google servers.? (I have a good wifi and bluetooth connection)
What I am desperate to do is reinstall a sat nav system, something along the lines of Tom Tom. Plus bring my other google apps up to date and operating .So to that end I thought I could download apps from google play store, which I understand is android, then using Bluetooth send them from my laptop to my car android device.
I'm getting the impression that because google play store is android I cannot download android to my laptop, if that is the case is there any way that I can download a google android app ?
How can I download android apps(especially from google play store) to be able to transfer them to my android device, by either Bluetooth or wifi.
I have been trying to crack this for ages but personally am getting no where so some professional assistance would really be appreciated. Many thanks caskin

Not answering your question... but throwing in the idea of replacing the "one trick pony" car sat nav with your phone. You most likely will have your phone with you when heading out... its address book will be the most updated (versus maintaining a phone address book and separately maintaining destination points within your sat nav)... and your phone can play/stream music, news, etc., etc. Anyway, just my unsolicited two cents.

I can't help with the car. Our cars are 17 and 21 years old and have none of the fancy stuff.

You can remove a device from appearing on the list.
    1. Go here http://play.google.com/ (it will insist on tacking on apps/games to that url - just ignore it)
    2. At the top far right, click your profile icon
    3. Select Library and Devices from the drop down menu.
    4. You end up with a list of apps you've installed on ALL devices.
    5. Go to the end and click Devices.
    androids.jpg
From there, when you find the device, you can uncheck/untick Show in Menus. Then you will no longer see it as a choice when you go to googleplay.

A bit on a tangent but may be useful to some... My car is ancient too. No bluetooth and no aux port. But if your car has FM radio, this works pretty well. You pair it with your phone via bluetooth just once and it will know to connect going forward. It then broadcasts signals to your FM radio (you can select the station frequency) and out comes news, music, etc. from your phone to your car's stereo system. Works the other direction too - so you can give your phone verbal commands and make hands free phone calls.

A car phone charger comes in handy too, of course.

You're welcome but I am not a sir. I'm an "old lady"! A female senior citizen who is 75 and still plugging away trying to find fixes for sticky problems.

Well Young lady please accept my sincere apologies, I myself am 82,but still love the game, with the PC being one of my favourite places. Having did as you advised, Im now stuck with finding a device that google will accept, I was hoping my laptop would come up but no!
All I need is one google app that will be in my downloads which I can send via (Bluetooth) to my cars media (android)device. Surely it cannot be as difficult as it appears??Do I require some interface to accept android apps on a windows PC in order to be able to download android apps??

Recommend you take another look at post #5. I've been using an Android phone with Google Maps for years for sat nav. Does the job well - no need for any in-car device.

Have you looked here? It shows how to manually update the head unit (scroll down).

You might be able to transfer it using a computer emulator like Bluestacks and the My BMW app. It says that app is another way to update the head unit.

I decline. First off, I don't want to install something on my laptop (only one of our four computer has bluetooth) that I'll NEVER use but the main reason is, our cars are old (21 and 17 years old) and don't have fancy things in them so I couldn't see if a transfer works.
I'm 75 and my husband is 79. We find that WAZE on my smartphone gets us where we need to go.

Sorry but don't fully understand the reply as I wasn't inferring that you do anything, it was me that was going to give YOUR idea a try. Plus my car is 20yrs old, but has a modern BMW add on(the media unit)however I also have a portable Garmin sat nav unit with life long updates, but having a unit in the car designed to display sat nav it would be great to get it up and going.I think Waze is fantastic have it on my phone but want it in the car??? Don't forget I am also 82 born 1940!!

I understand where you are coming from, I too have Waze plus Garmin drive on my Iphone, equally I carry a portable NUVI Garmin sat nav, so finding my way is not the problem. My problem is that I have a modern 9" BMW sat nav system in the car which I would like to activate, but cannot find a way of installing android apps to allow me to use it, most emulators such as blue stacks are designed to allow you to play android games etc on your PC,but they do not cater for Bluetooth or WiFi transfers of android files to android devices.

I also use an Android 2DIN in my little Mazda MX-5, and often use "sideloading": get your APK elsewhere than the Google Play Store, like #2 on the list in Post #8 from Eldon, and download the APK file to your computer and onto USB stick, then USB stick out to your vehicle and plug into Android 8 media device, then click on the APK to install.
IE, the APK file is installed on the Android device using a computer to download the file and transfer to USB stick.

Snap! besides my Rover which is my daily ride, we too have a 2010 MX5 powershift 2.0Lt which the wife uses, soft top and removeable hard top. Anyway I digress. Fully up to speed with your advice, which as you imply is simple to do, but on my media device I only have mini USB slots to take micro sd cards????

Same scenario if using a micro SD card, just load it with the .apk file then insert card into the Android unit.

Do you know what size of USB stick you used? I have a 'HandsFreeLink' from Honda and the manual says only a 16gb flash drive would work for updating the built-in Garmin GPS. After a few hours of frustration I discovered that only a 32gb flash drive would work. I'm not sure if it is the same for you but you might need a specific size of mini SD card.

I can update everything else OTA but apparently Garmin thinks walking back and forth from computer to head unit multiple times is the better way...
