When does 1+1=0

1 Car + 1 broken Coil spring = ZERO drivable cars

Driving down the highway there is a loud pop and a bunch of smoke, almost immediately, followed by a loud bang; when the rear tire blows.

Pull safely off the road, get the car jacked up and the tire removed. What do I see? The coil spring in 2 pieces and a shredded tire with at least 40,000 miles left on it. :***

Lucky I was about a quarter-mile from the house at the time. Put the donut on a nurse-maid the car back to the house.

So, I'm without a car for at least a week. I live in the middle of no where, got to order a new spring and wait for it to get here. Then take the car in to have it repaired and replace the tire.

 

That's why I take the bus... But if you live out in the country, consider a horse. When they act up you just shoot them and get another.

Plenty of horses around, maybe I can convince the Amish to let me borrow one for a bit. Might not take kindly to me shooting it, when I acts up.

I'm 13.5 miles from Watertown. Got a mechanic who works out of his house about 3 miles down the road. Probably can get the car down there with little difficulty, certainly don't want to pay to have it towed into town.

 

Funny thing is, I didn't hit any pot holes; the State just finished repaving the road into town.

It's all that salt they use up here in the winters. Eats up the under carriage and suspension system in hurry.

 

I replaced my springs intentionally to lower the ride height of my car to the tune of about $250 labor each. You may never have a properly aligned car again...

I go through there about once a year for the Pedal 4 Medals bike ride in June, love stopping to get some baked goods from the Amish.

why am i the only one that didn't know there are Amish near watetown? I love Amish goods!

 

No rental. I walk to work anyway. It's 300 feet from the house.

Do they every finish? Seems like it's been under construction forever. I avoid it like the plague. Actually supposed to be finished this fall. Arsenal out by the mall has been tore up for last 2 years.

Some Amish family's moved up here 2 years ago. Bought up a bunch of old farm steads. Get most of my fresh veggies from the Amish farm near by.


Well, a new coil spring is on the way. Should have it Friday, I hope. Then to get it put on. I'll have to drive for a week on the donut. Then I should be able to afford a new tire.

Coil spring + Tire + Labor = $300-$400. Nothing is cheap now-a-days.
