hey there....i am having similar problems with my firewall. I am horrible with computers(great at typing, but not the fixing of), but I recently had a virus on my computer called the AV Security Suite...it messed up alot of stuff. It started deleting my personal things such as my pictures(which I found a program to undelete them, just can't afford to pay the 40.00 to purchase it). Anyhow, I had tried to get on my yahoo instant messenger, but it says my firewall wont let me. So I googled and it said to uninstall and than reinstall. I did and it still says my firewall is preventing me from using it. Can anyone PLEASE help me! I am kinda illiterate with computers.:confused

    Hi

What Windows version and what Security software including firewall are you using?

Without knowing the firewall used, cannot direct you to the correct menu, but look in the firewalls menus for a software or applications list, look down the list for Yahoo Messenger and delete its entry, then open up Yahoo Msgr again and click Allow (or whatever the firewall uses to allow an application past)

    Hi

Unless you are absolutely sure you are virus free now, PLEASE for the sake of your computer and yourself, complete the steps in the following link (don't skip, go out of order, or miss anything... be thorough and diligent):

Even if you don't see obvious signs of a virus, it's highly likely that you still have malware on your computer. This could very well be part of the issue with YIM not working as well (though that's not a guarantee).

    Hi

You can use nLite to create a slimmed down copy of your full XP cd, but links to a pre-created download are debatable and not in the forum or my interest to post I'm afraid, but if you have a copy of XP already then nLite will slim it down for use on netbooks.

Yes Recuva is good for recovery of deleted items, but also remember to have a potable HDD, USB Pen or CD/DVD to copy the recoverd files to as if you copy them back to the HDD that they are being recovered from you may end up copying over a few of the files that are next to be recovered, this is the same for any recovery program.
