    pre-scanning system restore reboot question

...running XPsp2. When I disable system restore the statue changes to 'off' until I re-enable system restore back to 'monitoring'. However I'm never prompted to restart the pc after disabling or re-enabling. Is it necessary to restart?

I have no malware in ADD/REMOVE programs....do we disable/re-enable sys restore before the scans with the downloaded tools...or disable/re-enable sys restore..after.. all the scans are completed? I had been turning off restore prior to the scans, then turning restore back on after scanning.

Technically it is not supposed to be required but I like to do it anyway.

That does not mean that you are clean!

You do not toggle system restore until ALL malware problems on the PC are fixed. This does not necessarily mean after running the scans.

If you already had System Restore off or have already toggle it (which it sounds like from your first message), your System Restore points are already gone anyway so it really does not matter now.
