I can imagine it, but I've never heard of it happening.

It amazing how many think mods are paid. They think you are just joking when you tell them you do it voluntarily.

Moediggity...do you have a webcam??? LOL (just kidding).

You could create your own forums or website, hope it becomes popular, and ask for donations.

You could always walk around the nearest city (or the city you live in, whatever), and reply to those flyers people staple to telephone poles that say "work at home, earn big money".

Yep, it is. Most smaller sites are ALL volunteer, and many just barely make enough from advertising to pay for their bandwidth, if they're lucky.

Larger commercial sites may have paid help doing webpage layout and upkeep, or other professional services, but even there, forums are generally all-volunteer efforts, as forums are generally not money makers. And in almost all cases, you are asked to help, you don't apply for the job. Generally it will be people that are well know to the owners, either in real life or by long association online so they have a good idea of how fair and balanced you are. An immature mod can wreck a forum.

http://forums.majorgeeks.com/images/smilies/cool.gif To be honest, it would be more to your advantage to open up some small business in your own home. Maybe teach computers, music, tutor kids or just do baby-sitting. If you really want to do something on the puter, make stuff and sell it through ebay or your own site.

You mean they are supposed to PAY Mods and Admins?? I must have a few checks in the mail over the years, then!

Seriously, it depends on:- (1) What you are prepared to do; (2) What you are capable of; (3) How much money you want to make and how fast.

As was said, selling products/services via a website is one way, if you want to use your computer to earn some cash.
