should i put my OEM vista 64 bit on my 1.5 TB or would it be better if i put it on my OLDER 60GB laptop harddrive that i would connect to my computer. I heard that if i were to put my operating system in a different harddrive everything would load faster. and im makin a gaming pc so fast load times are a must

    thanks for your input.

Make a partition on your 1.5 tb drive and put Vista on there

what does partitioning the hard drive do? aside from making the computer think there is two different hard drives. I'm talking about Performance, how does this help?

Partitioning the drive will not increase performance. If anything, it will slow it down. Since the 1.5tb drive is newer technology, and has a spin rate of 7200rpm, you should install your OS to it, and just leave the 60gb out of the system. You could put it in an enclosure (like this one) and use it as a 60gb external storage box for music, videos, etc. Installing an older, slower drive will only have a negative impact on performance. The older drive is probably a 5400rpm unit, and is IDE which means it has a slower data transfer rate (and slower access and seek times) as compared to the newer SATA2 1.5tb drive.
