where has my hard drive space gone?

Hi all,

Long time geek, first time poster!

I haven't had a PC in years, recently got a new one with Vista Ultimate, had 320 GB harddrive, after the initial set up it had about 300. So anyway, I wanted to put some games on it, don't ask me why but for some reason I copied the filed onto the PC rather than installing from the disk. Things like Halflife 2, Dark Messiah, Total War Rome, etc.

I have now deleted the files, and have the games installed, probably about 35 GB worth of games but my Harddrive space is at 194 GB? I've tried defrag and disk clean-up! I don't understand!

Have I ruined my new PC? Help. And sorry for being so useless.

Specs: 2.3Ghz, 1G ram (uping to 2 on saturday). Vista Ultimate.

 

Vista uses somewhere around 15% of hard drive space (if I recall correctly) for restore points. follow this link to previous thread on the issue
