As of this semester I am a computer science major and I am taking a computer info systems course, and taking an intro to programming languages course in the Fall. I know some of the basic terms of programming but what can I do to get started prior to this?

    Very good question!

Basics are the most important, so I would suggest that you choose an online book store, such as Amazon, and look for the following terms: introduction to programming, beginning programming, programming for dummies, programming Demystified, head first programming. Also, practicing and solving problems are essential for understanding programming, so you might want to free sometime for practicing. Languages that are taught these days are OOP (object oriented programming) such as Java and Visual Basic, so you might want also to look for simplified books about the OOP subject. Whatever books you might find, try to stay away from college books (most likely the expensive ones) because they are usually complicated and boring like hell :duck

    Start simple and good luck!
