Which external hard drive to buy?

    Been doing some looking for an external hard drive to do back ups to and extra storage. Mfg. and magazine reviews seem to be much higher that user reviews. Looking at Maxtor 5000DV 160GB Personal Storage and Western Digital WDXC 200 GB. Time after time, user complaints are that units run hot and fail after only a few months, data is lost and service is poor!

    What external hard drives for USB 2 and Windows XP are you guys using or would recommend, and what is your opinion of the product.
