    Budget: 300€

    Motherboard: Asus P5B ATX

    I was thinking about:
    (279.00 €)
    PowerColor ATI Radeon 5850 - 760MHz GPU, 1050MHz GDDR5
2x DVI, Display Port, HDMI, VGA adapter.

So i was wondering if thats compatible with my motherboard, which is PCI-E if i'm not wrong.

My old graphics card is the 9600GT, which has started to run out of juice due to the requirements on BC2...

So i was wondering if the 5850 is compatible with my motherboard and whether or not it's worth the money.
Also, is a 500W powersource enough for this GPU?
    :wave

    Thanks in advance.

The 5850 is a great card!

I recently got the 5830 which plays anything i can throw at it! So yours will be a beast!

Just make sure you have space for it in your case, it is 10.5" long and i think the power cables are on the end, making it around 11" long.

The only other alternative is from NVidia, the GTX285, which is not DX11 ready, but if you ever go into folding, the 285 would be a beast! The 285 does get slightly less FPS in the benchmarks but is not a noticeable difference.

Would my 500W PSU be able to run the GPU?

Bigger is always better when speaking of PSUs but 500w will run a mid range card without too much trouble.

I would go for a higher Wat PSU, just my preference. From Newegg's site,

"500 Watt or greater power supply with two 75W 6-pin PCI Express power connectors recommended (600 Watt and four 6-pin connectors for ATI CrossFireX technology in dual mode)"

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814131351

If you have the 2 75W 6 pin plugs available, you should be ok. On the edge though. Like Burrell said, make sure it will fit in your case. Some of the new cards are fooking huge! I had to hack up one mid size tower to get one to fit in. Few things more frustrating than a new bit of hardware candy, that you can't get hooked up... ;)

Just my .02 worth, you might look into the Nvidia GTX260. Would be a pretty good step up from a 9600. I must admit, I am not up on the new cards, especially the ATI line.

I have an nVidea 250 myself with the PS the computer came with. Runs everything great. And a virtual steal at about $120.00.

Oops, it seems that my budget has dropped to 200 €, any good GPU's for 200€?

For £200 you can get a 5830 which is quite frankly awesome!

A little update on the situation, tho most of you prolly don't care:

i emailed teh store thats selling tehz GPU, and demz said that if my PSU is a good quality one, it should run, and that my Motherboardz should be compatible, too.
