i have both of these, because i didnt realize one came with the processor itself straight from intel.

this is going to be used for a p4 prescott which is known for its heat.

the smaller one actually has about the same sized fan as the intel one. however, the intel one has a slightly bigger heatsink in overall area, while the other one is all copper (as opposed to the intel one, which just a small portion of the underside is copper). in the pictures the intel one looks to dwarf the other, but most of the intel one is plastic, it is only slightly larger heatsink.

the intel one didnt come with specs but the copper one says it pushes 27.9CFM at 3500rpm with <34dba of noise...

    which would you choose?

Neither,id can both of em,and purchase a aftermarket HS/FAN I personally use a Cooler Master with 4 heatpipes and a 90mm fan@1500RPM no noise what so ever.I have a prescott and im idleing 42C Load 52C and in games without overclocking it gets up to about 55c..So if you want my opinion, get a new HS/w heatpipes only about $50USD..

K same chip i have,im asumeing by looking at the fans that u have the 478pin prescott.
i did use the fan that says intel on it(the one on the right) for about 4 months.it did an outstanding job.Temps were always between 39C-55C,Besure to take there thermal paste off and add some artic silver(about$14)

and even though the other fan is all copper,i dont think it measures up to the intel fan its got a pretty thick piece of copper in the middle...
