So I know there are a lot of anti-Microsoft people out there...I'm just wondering which OS is the most popular here among majorgeeks. My uni is having an event next week where they're installing linux on people's computers and showing 'em all how to use it. I run on Windows XP which I like because that's all I've used.

    Opinions???

    1. XP Pro SP2

    2. Red Hat Fedora Core 3 64 bit

I like them both for different reasons, also run Win98, ME 2K for trouble shooting.

I'd have a Mac as well if I could justify the cost to myself:)

Makes me chuckle that one as ask 90+% of the Anti MS people what OS they are running and they will say XP! :D

MS XP at present but have used all varieties of MS OS's from dos 3.1 upwards and some Mac OS's ( not used OS X yet tho ) have Debian downloaded but not gotten around to installing...

Another question to throw out there: if you use linux, which version do you use since there are sooooo many of them.

Presently use WinME (absolute yuck). I am building a 64 bit box and will install Win Xp Pro. Tried Linux Unbuntu and was not impressed.

As for which OS is for you.....
If you like the idea of trying something new go for it. If you would rather stick with what your comfortable with, so be it. As for which is easier one of the others would have to give you that one. I have used XP, or other windows systems for ever and JUST loaded FreeBSD to try and learn on it, so I have no real expierence to give you on that one.
