Unfortunately, not all hdds are going to connect to this tablet. After studying all available information, I found it a science connect through OTG the medium of this type. It's a cable, or hdd type or other problem. I wouldn't ask here, if I didn't know that it is possible. Some time ago I had the opportunity to try one 2.5" hdd, which normally go there. I don't remember what type and brand it was, so I ask. Does anyone have this tablet and run with it mechanical disk without external power?
Or as an option to transfer data every day? With reasonable transfer rate and practical use?
    thanks for the tip

    HI

Looked at this question in depth and more came to the conclusion that OTG is more geared to powered removable devices as HDDs. did not find in a search a HDD that was a portable one like I use for Windows as in WD Passport drives for your need, possible is Cloud Wifi/BT devices but they are not portable.

So possible is does your device have a cloud type app like OneDrive, GoogleDrive you can save data to and that is fully portable.

I have an ASUS VivoTab ME400 which has similar hardware specs to your tablet and I've ran a Toshiba Canvio 2TB portable HD off it's OTG port. However, it does noticeably reduce the tablet's uptime when watching movies or anything else requires a lot of HD accessing. That defeats the purpose of having a tablet. There are battery WiFi enabled portable hard drives available. Here are some examples. They're not cheap and not exactly small.

I would follow DavidGP's cloud based recommendation or get a thumb drive if you have issues with wireless access. A 2.5" HD is still a sizable piece of hardware to tote around.
