Which slots do I use for dual mode memory on ASUS K8V-Deluxe?

    Hi everybody.
I was given 2 sticks of 512Mb Corsair Platinum XMS cas2 PC3200 RAM.
Problem is, when I put them in the mobo manual's recommended configuration (Slots 1 and 3) it doesn't say it's running in dual mode.
CPUz doesn't even recognise that I'm running a second 512Mb stick, and says it's single mode memory.
I've noticed that the slots 2&3 are a different colour to slot 1, could this be where they should go? Should the memory say it's in dual mode on the BIOS POST screen?
I would have tried the different memory slots myself, but it would mean removing the CPU heatsink to get at the memory in slot 1, and then reseating, and I just can't be @rsed if it won't make a difference. :)

Your motherboard's manual is your best resource here. If you have it in the recommended configuration, and it says that you only have one stick installed, I would wager that you haven't installed the second correctly. Try reseating it. Make sure that you push it in so that the locks snap into place on their own. Also, it can't hurt to try clearing CMOS afterwards (other than the fact that you'll lose the settings)... you can do this by removing the battery, or shorting the pins as described in the mobo's manual.

    Thanks Mada_Milty
The RAM is working fine, and Windoze shows 1024Mb is present, it's just that some system information programs don't show the third slot, and it's not running in dual channel mode AFAIK.

Well, if windows recognizes the stick, and you have it in the motherboards recommended configuration, you're more than likely right on target.
I would trust those resources before I would a third party app.
