Which Windows OS is better for gaming?

    Which Windows OS is better for Gaming;
    Windows 98, Windows 2000 or Windows XP ?

    Depends on your hardware, but if you have more than 800 mhz and 512 mbyte ram, then my experience is that Win2k/XP is better (Where Win2k uses less memory than WinXP when idle, around 45 mb)

    I'd have to agree with 'ol Snakefoot... you can find some decent guides for optimizing your computer for gameplay... like disabling certain services, doing away with visual themes, and several other things. I use XP and am an avid gamer... either Windows 2000 or XP is the best choice when it comes to Windows.

    Im with them. Ive always said at least a 1 gig processor myself, assuming its any newer game using 3d graphics.

    .I'd say both Win2k and XP are really close in gaming performance. If you have less than 512mb RAM, you'd probably see better performance with Win2k. I know I always did when I had 384mb RAM.
