Sorry guys but I wasn't sure where to post this, whenever I'm on the forums and I scroll the bottom of my screen gets white and if I scroll fast it pulls the white all the way up until the bottom half of my screen is white, and then the white part drops to the bottom and disappears. In other words, as I scroll it pulls the white up , when I stop it drops down. I know it's not my computer because I just reinstalled Windows, it happens on the other PCs I have and MajorGeeks is the only site it happens on. Anybody else seeing this ?

    Hi Nick

Software forum seems fine for this so no worries, in any event we would move it to appropriate area for you.

What Windows version and service pack do you have?
Also did you install all the drivers again and do not take the ones Microsoft offer in the install of Windows as the be all and end all ones, so re-install chipset and graphics driver as I feel the graphics driver is the issue here, as it seems a refresh problem perhaps.

Look in Device Manager and check for yellow ! marks.

Ah now you mention other PCs so the above may be mute, but check on the newly installed PC.

Now if happening on other PCs do you use same browser on all, if so what? have you tried a different browser and updated media files as in Java and Flash etc?

Hey David, one is a Dell still running XP Pro sp3, all the drivers are from Dell, the others are all HP running Vista, and the laptop is Toshiba running Vista, but the strange thing is that it seems to be a strange problem. The white screen happens on all the computers when I use Chrome, SRWare Iron, or Opera. It DOESN'T happen with Firefox, Palemoon, or IE. Also, it's only MajorGeeks that it happen with.

I have also noticed this with Chrome, on my HP laptop running Win 8.1. It's a very brief delay in the displaying of the lower part of the page being moved into view by scrolling and scrolling must be done immediately and quickly after steering the browser to http://forums.majorgeeks.com. If I pause for a few seconds before scrolling, the white space is less likely to be seen.

Although I, like you, do not see this when using IE, I suspect it may actually be happening but we do not see it for the following reason. IE does not respond to mouse scrolling of http://forums.majorgeeks.com quite as soon as Chrome. Therefore, I think IE simply does not permit scrolling the page until it is fully ready to be displayed, while Chrome is immediately allowing scrolling, which results in white space being momentarily seen.

If my theory is valid, it seems to be attributable to how the forum is rendered in a web browser and this phenomena indicates it is rendered in a different way than most other web pages. Just my 2 cents worth.

Here's another thought on this. All the browser developers like to be able to make positive claims about speed. If Chrome, or any other browser allows the part of a web page that initially fits into the browser window to be properly displayed before the entire page can be properly displayed, this gives the user the perception that that browser renders pages faster than another browser. So, I'm thinking this may be a deceptive tactic to give the impression of a speed advantage over other browsers.

I think you may be on to something usafveteran, while typing this response, I paused and scrolled and it didn't happen, but when I first logged on as soon as I scrolled the bottom part of my screen went white and when I stopped scrolling the white panel dropped down out of sight.

In addition, after I posted my last response I scrolled and pulled up the white panel at the bottom again. I'm glad I'm not the only one who has had this happen to them.
