"Certainly, Whoop, Whoop, Whoop, Nyuk, Nyuk, Nyuk..." was something the nuns at school hated to hear and were quick to delve out punishment if the culprit were ever caught...:p

About 4 years ago I was climbing down a ladder from a ceiling I was working in. After the last step, I turned and stepped in a short wide-mouth bucket of glue my partner had left there. Falling, I poked two fingers in both his eyes. He went to protect his eyes and slapped his self in the head with a pair of vice grips he had in his hand and knocked his self over and I fell on top of him. He's screaming and pushing me off while I was kicking the bucket trying to get it off my foot.

It didn't happen exactly like this but that's what we told everybody down on the first floor. First thing every body said was 'Stooges'!

Me too and we where talking in work yesterday that some comedy back in the day would not be PC today, some of it I agree with it would not be apt but some well the snowflakes just would go nuts because of it, eras and comedy are different and I get it but it can get over cautious.

The “Baby Boomers would be more familiar with the slap stick comedy from the Silent Movie era e.g. Charles Chaplin (who was a genius and master of slap stick comedy), along with comedy pairs like Laurel & Hardy, Abbot & Costello and then The Three Stooges.

It’s a genre of comedy not all Generations get.

After the “Baby Boomers” (aged mid-40’s to 65 years who would have grown up with The Three Stooges), TV re-runs and the cartoon versions introduced the later Generation X (30’s to mid-40s) to The Three Stooges.

Now-a-days attitudes are greatly changed with political correctness and what is classed as "physical abuse" (much that went on with old style comedy). So, I expect Generations Y (born between 1981 and 1994) and Z (born between 1995-2009) may not get this style of comedy.

But I must say, I reckon Charlie Chaplin comedy never grows old…I’ve seen kids under 10 years giggling at his Silent Movie antics and getting emotional with his more tender movies of orphaned kids.;)

I like the Stooges (Except for Shemp) I've seen them so many times most of their acts are tiresome.

From what i understand of the brothers,Shemp never really wanted to be in the act/show.Moe some how convinced or forced him to be in it.Than it would have been just moe and larry beating up on one another no Jerome thats curly's real name.

Larry was just apart of the act.

    Moe,Shemp,Curly where the three brothers.

The reset where just fill ins

The ones that tried to take over for curly sucked and where not as funny more dull than any thing.Joseph Wardell and Joe Besser where the two curly in impersonators.

Curly brought that spark out of all three of them.

Funny, but I remember on the TV re-runs of The Three Stooges, one member (Curly) changing but with the same name. Thinking back, I did prefer the one "interchangeable" third Stooge which only in later years identified as the original "Curly", I agree he appeared to bring "that spark out of all three of them"...he was the one who made: "...Whoop, Whoop, Whoop, Nyuk, Nyuk, Nyuk..." so famous (and annoying to some:D)

I was surprised upon seeing the 2012 "Three Stooges" movie showing a background to the individual and sad end to Curly...which explained a personal long question as to why in the past when I watched "The Three Stooges", there often would be a different "Curly".

Nowadays, I still hear the odd "...Nyuk, Nyuk, Nyuk..." which brings back a smile at mental pictures and warm memories of these old style comedians whose slap stick gestures to this day occur in some instances during the odd movie or TV show scene.
