I recently found this website. I don't know how accurate the info is but, it's frightening. I did analyze the site with VirusTotal and it's clean. On my low-spec PC it used up to 90% of CPU (1.8 GHz Celeron) and 400 MB RAM.

    PS Is this for real?

Every gamer I know wants to hack. Some to cheat, some to fix the game.
Back when we had control of our computers editing the RAM contents in real time using a non maskable interrupt was popular. Need more gold? Edit the RAM where the amount is stored. Hacking now days is harder, but the same allure it there.
Every computer user whats to be a hacker for some reason or another.

There are hackers, and then there are hackers.

Honey Pots, Winnie the Pooh and Gamers? :confused

Read the article... and learn. Before anybody tries to discredit the article, consider this.
About a year ago I came across a list of Recommended Websites on Gizmo's Freeware. Number 1 was MajorGeeks.

If the site is fake, speak up. The Malware Removal Forum on MajorGeeks is super active.

Think about this logically for a moment. For Norse to track that data and it to not be honeypots, it means they installed malware globally. They didn't, so the logical conclusion is the only one remaining. The site isn't fake, it is marketing. The site you linked even explained that they are honeypots.

Thanks. The only honey pots I knew of are a pot containing honey, and the King Protea, which is South Africa's national flower!

Quote "Technology company Norse owns thousands of data centres and key internet hardware around the world. By monitoring the attacks that come into its own hardware, it can work out the location and severity of all the major DDoS attacks that are taking place at any time."

Also, I didn't see the reference to honey pots, which is no excuse.

Yes you do because you bolded it, LOL. No company is foolish enough for them to expose their actual network to attack, so they use machines that appear connected to the rest of their infrastructure.

Also, if you are upset that they didn't specifically call them honeypots, blame the reporting source because Norse doesn't hide this information.

That was in reference to you calling them honeypots. I also bolded Winnie the Pooh and Gamers in reference. English is my second language and I explained the only honeypots I knew of. There's nothing in the article by Gizmo's Freeware, or on the site I linked to about honeypots. I found and have visited the Norse Corporation's website and noticed the reference to honeypots.

All I wanted to know is whether what I see on my screen is really happening or not.

BTW Norse Corporation is a finalist in the 2015 Edison Awards.
