    Bush looked very nervous.

Poor thing. He is lost this debate by a huge margin.

He even broke the debate rules established prior by addressing his oponents.

    He doesn't have a message.

He kept repeating the same scripted message over and over again.

I agree with you 100%. I was listening to it on the radio for a while when i was driving home. I was amazed on what you can pick up in there voices. George sounded very nervous, while John Kerry sounded confident and sound.

Bush Got Owned. Even Joe Scarbourgh said it. When it came down to pure policy and not spin Bush got destroyed. Looks like those polls will be tightening up. I can't wait until the next debate about Domestic policy. Kerry is even stronger on that subject!

Yeah i know. I couldnt belive he spoke a whole minute about that. I mean come on, this is a debate! The look on his face when the question was asked....and his response....boy thats a loaded question.

I say both canidates repeated quite a bit, but if i heard W say "hard work" one more time i would have gon nuttz.

I also respect John Kerrys decision not to come out and call George Bush a straight out lier. Even though he was give the oppurtunity to.

I heard on NPR radio today that John Kerry has been into debating since he was like 11 years old. No kidding!

    It showed tonight.

I thought Kerry had him on the ropes.

But, then again, I was not actively watching. I was also eating my chicken wings and trying to script.

Kerry won the debate, which was no surprise. Bush isn't a good debater; wasn't in the last election either.

Kerry is a better debater than Gore was. As was noted, Kerry's been debating most of his life.

sometimes it make me sick to talk polotix...er, politicks...er, politics...
GB made some very poignant and straight-forward points -he did better than I thought he could.
JK was not as aggresive that I thought he should've been -but I super-loved the fact that he had REAL answers -ie: no quick fixes, but real-world TOUGH answers.
It's harder to swallow than GB's answers -but way more intelligent and realistic.
I truely think that JK could have been stronger and fully expected GB to be weaker ,.....so it's weird -but I still believe that JK made more sense, and so won the debate. -I just hope he is more aggressive in the next one.
(Yeah, I wanted to see Kerry win, and think that GB is actually E V I L) -so take my opinion with a grain of salt.
    Yers,

We have a stammering idiot for a preseident. That vs a guy who can lie with a strait face. The who thing made me sick.

imho Bush is a horrible speaker, I cant count the number of times Ive heard part of a speech replayed on the radio and broke out laughing because it sounded like he needed to take a basic english class.

    Sad times.

Whether he has a stammer/stutter or not has bugger all to do with it. :( (the second insult...I can't argue with, heh) Unless you're connecting having a stammer to being stupid, in which case, I can bloody argue.
well, I can argue hiding behind a keyboard, face to face, you'd dismiss me as a stammering idiot.

My English is fine, not perfect, my stammer instead of hindering has helped it, reading, writing are my methods of communication, or have been.
I'm feeling the ranty, pedantic need to pick out various spelling and grammar mistakes, just to be a bitch. but. I. can. fight. it.. Woof.

Anyway, I also get the feeling I'm taking this to heart, stammers are comedic, I can laugh....Ha.

*rant over* But, eh, if Tony Blair went on telly, and was losing badly in a debate, and therefore maybe stuttering over a few of his "points" har, I'd laugh, and abuse the screen :) But that's only because I don't like him, more faces than a clock shop.

*rambles crap* Eeeh, sorry, you just pressed my rant button with the "stammering idiot" comment and then the next post seemingly relating that to English skills.

Oh, in spite of getting overly defensive, I agree, Bush isn't a skilled public speaker, not very rousing, or engaging, doesn't inspire me, but he's not my leader, he doesn't need to.

But I'd rather that than a speech written by an expert, design to press all the right buttons. Then there's intensive courses to teach him how to present a speech, what subliminal messages he can give with his body language etc, to suggest he's dominant, yet trustworthy, yet...blah blah. At least you can see what he's actually like under pressure, or something.

Like our Mr. Blair does, but he milks it, those aren't subliminal, he might as well carry a big, neon sign saying "love me! trust me!" *wags tail*

Calm down Mispon. This isn't an attack on those with speak impediments.

I'm sure if he had someone whispering in his ear what to say there would not be 5 seconds of dead air and stutering followed by the same lines he's been using for the past 2 years.

Yeh, I know it wasn't, well, it clicked after I'd finished being a ranty brat. :) Sorry, I mellowed and stuff, after my initial "Oi!" and half way through the post.

I'm just in that sort of mood, I was shouting at the T.V. earlier, and then I burnt my pizza. *sob* :( ;)

my favorite part was when bush argued to get time to respond, and then followed with, "I.........uh..................................................um..................................................................uh........"

Its interesting what they did while the other was talking. First Bush would stand there and blink like a kid being scolded. Kerry used his down time to pretend to write. Then Bush started drinking water. Kerry wrote some more. Bush seeing the writing thing is working, started his.

    G.T. R.I.P February 4, 2007. You will be missed.

I suspect Bush dreads the debates; he's NOT good at it. The vice-presidential debates should be interesting. Cheney is very good on his feet, and Edwards is a trial lawyer. He's a professional debater.

Presidential debates are something of a paradox. Debating is a somewhat specialized skill, one that not everybody has. The debates can strongly influence an election, but AFTER the election, it's NOT a skill that'd needed or used on the job.

Bush is a lousy debater, but from all accounts is good at one-on-one meetings and interaction, and is likeable and effective in direct dealings with people. Kerry is a good debater, but he's not very likeable or personable in direct interaction.

But debates are here to stay. Thankfully, they're not the ONLY factors in picking our politicians.
