Why are some MG downloads only available at the Author's site.

I am curious to know why some Author's dont allow MG to sponsor their downloads. I just downloaded AdAware's latest definitions at 17.7KB/s from their site. Pathetic speeds from the Author's link.

MG downloads run at up to 500KB/s for me. (Thanks MA and CP for maintaining the Internode link for us Aussies)

I know Microsoft like to keep their stuff close to their chest but what about the others? Bazza

 

Partially it's legal, partially it's just easier to update a single download from their servers than to try and co-ordinate the update process amongst two or three dozen sites that might want to host it.

 

Probably best to wait for an answer from MA or CP on this.

True, but then it's the responsibility of the site owners to update it. Less hassle on the original authors.

Much better, around 8x times faster download than my previous download, but my question to MA and /or CP still stands. Bazza
