Nicknames intrigue me. Recent ones I have noticed include nappychin, xxxlanzanoxxx and redryder. :D

redryder is probably from Red Ryder, the comic character. then again maybe not.

I'll start off with mine. "bigbazza", 'coz my name is Barry (doh), I'm 1.96 metres tall (6'5" in the old currency) and used to be 115 kilos (or 250 lbs approx). I'm down to 95 kilos (or 210 pounds approx), so maybe I should be notsobigbazza. :D ;) :) :)

Like to hear your reasons why. Bazza

    me=lacking in originality :p

Actually, I used to post at a group of boards and went by another nic (actually, a RL nickname). When I came here, I knew I didn't want that one or another I've used and figured I'd just go by my name.

I had to stop and think which screen name I'm using here. :D

Sgt. Tibbs was my cat, who died seven years ago. On other boards, I use Felix4067, which is his still-living twin brother's name combined with my house number. Felix is my original name, but I was trying to be stealthy a number of years ago and get into a board to see what they were up to in regards to the one I moderate, so I used my other cat's name. It stuck. :)

Fred is my dog's name. I started calling him Fred G. Dog for some crazy reason. Now I use it as an online alias if I need a name. Get all kinds of stuff addressed to the mutt. The best one was a Visa application to Fred G. Dog...

Oh well, got Fred_G for another forum and decided to keep on using it so I don't forget my screen name...:D

    obnoxious Corporal

I'm 60 years old and grumpy as all hell and no one listens to a word I say anyway, so I say and do what I want (as long as it's legal) and that is where my moniker comes from. Besides Fred was taken at the time and still is. I used to be Aloner but my exwife took that name and added ex to the end and I didn't want there to be any way to connect me to her.

Well...... when I came back around and wanted to get back in to the board again, i wanted something new and not related to my old self in any way, and since this is still what I do for a living (well... the full time job anyways) I fgured what the heck... I also wasn't feeling overly creative at the time.

N5638J is my longest running user name i have used. I started using it back in 01? because i was helping a friend start a flight simulator 98 clan called SCA "South central Airlines" and i used it as a Tail Number and at the time i had no idea it was used on a real aircraft until Kodo brought it up asking if was the pilot of the aircraft that had the same Number and crashed back in 03 (he was trying to make a joke at me at the time but i got him back) lol.

    "Beware the Jabberwock, my son!
The jaws that bite, the claws that catch!
Beware the Jubjub bird, and shun
    The frumious Bandersnatch!"

He took his vorpal sword in hand:
Long time the manxome foe he sought—
So rested he by the Tumtum tree,
    And stood awhile in thought.

And, as in uffish thought he stood,
The Jabberwock, with eyes of flame,
Came whiffling through the tulgey wood,
    And burbled as it came!

One, two! One, two! And through and through
    The vorpal blade went snicker-snack!
He left it dead, and with its head
    He went galumphing back.

"And hast thou slain the Jabberwock?
Come to my arms, my beamish boy!
    O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!"
    He chortled in his joy.

'Twas brillig, and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe:
    All mimsy were the borogoves,

I'm surprised at how many people use the hours number in their name! I wonder why you do that? I might consider putting in the year I was born, but the house number has very little meaning to me. Is that because I live in a flat and don't have my own house? :)

  37. Triaxx2

    Triaxx2 MajorGeek

Mine comes from my forum RPG days. I needed a name I didn't have to keep changing if I needed to change origins. Triaxx doesn't sound too silly if the character is in Japan, or too silly in a more european setting.

As for the two, that's because I was registering for something (Bugger me if I can remember what it was.), and someone else had the name, so I just added the two.

  39. Gensuknives

    Gensuknives Grand pooty-meister

Years ago when I was still a practicing laparoscopic surgeon, I got addicted to the game scene. I overheard my wife one night while I was playing and she was talking on the phone to her son. She got asked what I was doing, and I heard her reply, "He's out back, sharpening his GensuKnives!"

That's been my moniker ever since. And...............the eye-hand coordination that is required in my gynecologic specialty closely coincides with laparoscopic skills. The better I got at game skillz, the better my surgical skills became.

In a lot of our teaching sessions, when docs would come from around the country to learn our tricks and techniques for removing large things from small holes in the belly................we would suggest they practice by getting into the online FPS's and mixing it up. It really DID help. My $.02
