Why Do New Registrations Need To Be Approved Before Being Activated?

    I am curious about the rationale of having a moderator approve someone's registration before it is activated. I can see the purpose of verifying email addresses or phone numbers, but when I consider the registration information MajorGeeks collects, I cannot imagine which entries on the registration form would be used to differentiate an approved and unapproved registration. I guess the bottom line is how does MajorGeeks choose which registrations to approve and which to deny?

    The answer is pretty simple, we try to weed out spammers. We aren't always successful.

    Both of the above.

    It is solely for the purpose of keeping spammers off our forum. I personally research the registration information online. If they come up as a spammer they are denied. If nothing is found they are admitted. Today I admitted someone I suspected was a spammer but couldn’t find anything online. Turns out I was right and their post and they were deleted.

    I KNOW.... I wish in reality I could spend my time here perminently as better in some respects to my actual job, although love my job and work, just dont the workload (thats another story)

    The exit door didnt you know is one of those revolving ones, PITA, but we love it really.
