Why Do Tv Shows Download Faster Than Movies?

I have a download speed of 0.98 mbps on my computer. When I want to watch a movie it is impossible to watch because it is constantly buffering. It might go for 2 sec. then stop. I am guessing that I should have a higher download speed but I am not sure why is it when I want to watch a TV show there is no problem?
If I am correct about not having enough speed, would 50 mbps be enough?

 

6Mbps is just enough to stream 'HD' from the BBC here, the downloaded versions (BBC iPlayer) are approx. 1GB per hour.

 

Not networked. Will see what it costs to move up to 10 mbps. But why do I not have a problem with a TV movie vs a regular movie?

If the TV shows you're watching are not in HD format, there's less data downloaded.

 

Do a speed test at speedtest.net and post the picture for us.

Normally a low isp is the cause.

But some websites do have a bandwith regulator.What that means is they only allow you to downloaded at the speeds they want you too.

 

I was watching Outlander and it appears to be HD.

 

Would like to post a pic here but don't know how to do it. At the site you recommended it shows my download rate of 2.36.
Interesting how it can vary from one test site to another.
I pretty sure my problem is my low mb.
