Why does 100 MB half allow me to download faster than 100MB full?

I noticed that with my cable modem only, I could download at a speed of 1.2 megabytes per second. Once I hooked up my old linksys wireless B router, it slowed to 100 kbs download. I fiddled with the settings and found that half worked the best for download speed. My lap top downloads at 300 kbs.My pc connects with ethernet and gets the fast download.(100 mb connections speed).

Does changing my router to half duplex slow down the wireless connnection? Does it change my upload speed? Would a new rotuer or modem speed things up?

it might slow down the wireless connection but if you can configure the router to the right settings that you want to alow for each pc it might not slow down the wireless connection.i think wire connection speed depends upon the router itself.you might refer this to the router manufacturer
