Why Does My Pc Keep Switching To American Keyboard Layout?

I live in the UK and I want my keyboard to be the UK keyboard layout. To the best of my knowledge this is what it is set at.

Very often it just changes to the American keyboard layout. I only discover this when I press certain keys. For example, when I press shift and the key with @ on it I get . To get @ I have to press shift and the number 2. Likewise, on the number pad the full stop/decimal point key results in a comma instead of a full stop.

If the information is required to enable you to help me the PC is a laptop PC and it is an Acer Aspire A315-21 V1.12 and the OS is Windows 10 Home (x64) Version 1909 (this information courtesy of Belarc Advisor).

change the keyboard to uk layout and delete the us and it should stay as uk layout and not change back.

As I hoped I had expressed in my OP my keyboard is set to UK and it is the only option I have. I apologise if I did not make this clear. I attach a screenprint to show that UK keyboard layout is my only option. The US one is not there.

    Here's the reason
If it changes to US press Win key and space bar and see if it changes back.

OK, I will try that next time it happens. It probably won't now. It has only been doing it for a few days.

I do I do this. I have gone into the language options and cannot find a way of removing a language.

So has this actually happened since last October? If it has, how have you been correcting it?

No, it hasn't. It has remained fixed since then. It did it again today: I logged on and it had changed itself to US English. I searched for this thread to see what other solutions had been offered. I know how to change it back to UK layout from this thread. However, I also had occasion today to add another language I need. I can add languages, that's no problem, but can see no means of removing existing ones, such as US English. I'm happy to press the Windows key and spacebar to toggle through languages but I would like to be able to delete the US English option in the hope the problem will not recur.
