why is this happening

    i have the latest up to date firewall and virus protect i am using nortons . BUT the problems i is this i have to keep 1 eye on the the virus +firewall because evey now and again somthing disables it and only way to enable it is to reboot . i ran nortons and there is nothing found . bear in mind that my prtection is up to date

    besides the Virus scan did you do a Trojan Scan

    Do you have any scheduled task such as a defragmenter that may shutdown a virus scanner whilst it runs?

    Have you looked for the problem at Symantec's web site?
