Hello guys! I am no pc or Mac genius nor do I have my own personal. The only thing I own are 4 IPhone 3GS that I bought and are under my name with AT&T. I noticed extreme changes in phone behavior, sky High bills and majority of the times, I can't access anything I own. Emails, inquiries regarding
Things I've seen on phones. Mine and my daughters especially. Most disturbing, my daughters phone conversation recorded inside deleted voicemail.
At&t no help, and Apple says nothings wrong! I just wanna know who and what the hell is going on with my phone? More importantly, why is my baby an myself locked down/out of everything? Someone help please!

    Hi

I will try and answer the things that I know could be the issue.

    1. Sky high bills, that is something AT&T should be able to help with in what you are being charged for and do review your monthly invoice/charges for any clues, one thing that can add to large charges is if you have data/call roaming enabled and travel between countries and/or out of your providers area.

Also if you have a monthly cap on data usage, then that can add large costs to your monthly bill, so do check what your data usage anount is in Megabytes (MB) as soem providers have unlimited and some have sizes ranging from 10mb to 1GB+ so if you use the internet alot (do note many apps on the iPhone use the internet, as well as if you stream video, music or radio) and go over your allowance you will be charged and it could be a heavy charge.

    2. "I can't access anything I own. Emails, inquiries regarding" << can you elaborate on this a bit more as for instance what email service are you using? have you tried to delete the account from the iPhone and then re-add it? info HERE on how to setup an email account. Plus what does "inquiries regarding" mean?

    3. "Things I've seen on phones. Mine and my daughters especially" << do again elaborate on what things you have seen? I note the phone conversation recorded inside a deleted voicemail, but as the iPhone tends to hard delete items you delete, how did yo access this voicemail?

    4. If you are locked out of everything, how can you access voicemail?

Did you call the Apple helpline or did you go into an Apple Store? if you have a store close to you make an appointement at the Genius Bar and talk this over with them face to face as the phone support option is not the best route as like with my questions above what you are seeing with the phone I am not so your explaination may get lost in translation on a phone support call or via a forum,

The iPhones are not jailbroken are they? if you dont knwo what jailbroken is, its likely that they are not.

Do you have a PC at all? just wondering how you update the iPhone and initially manages to get it to authorise as, as far as I know and I had to do this with my iPhones, was to install iTunes and then plug in the phone.

If you do have a PC, then what Windows version and Service Pack is it and what version of iTunes do you have? Do make sure that they are upto date, then via iTunes backup your iPhone with the info HERE, then do a factory restore info HERE (thried option) and see if your iPhone works ok.

BUT I would if possible take a trip to your local Apple Store and the Genius Bar and have them help.

Thank you for your quick reply.

I had just replied detailed info earlier. I was able to explain AT&T and then went on to daughters phone, my phone and all descriptive incidents on both our iPhones, our emails, what was in databases, etc. I was about 4 very long paragraphs in and my phone just shut off!! The battery wasn't even low!! Then I got the plug phone into ITunes right after!! OMG, I am never gonna get help.

This phone or someone/some program isn't allowing me to find resolve!

Point blank: I try googling anything regarding malware, spyware safari won't load. When I look up processes running in background(lockbot, keybagd, installed, securityd, assets, ptpd(something to do with plugging into iTunes), report crash, amid), safari says not connected to internet! Holy jezzz! Don't matter if I am on wifi, cell data, 3G!!

AT&t has been no help, I swear to the core of my bones! I have showed them so many things and all they could say is they arne't showing anything suspicious! Well how the he'll does my phone thether without their knowledge and unjailbroken? Or my daughter text msgs 1643 in 4 days? A million more to be named?

Someone please call me because I have tried walking into Apple store in Omaha! With my baby girl.. All they did was verify that it's not jail broken andwhen they did diagnostics test, nothing showing! I left a heartbroken Mother because she weeped "I don't understand mom"!!?? I explained the malicious activity and all they could say was everything seems normal!

I don't want to rewrite what I wrote earlier because again, I know I will be blocked from doing so! If I get to post this, please Call me(EDITED OUT).. I don't know if we can leave our number, but I can't write you without interruption and even at that, maybe they won't allow you to call me. All I know is there has got to be someone or someway to help me. I really want to give my girl her peace of mind before she gets on that plane!!

I'm sorry you're having so much issues, but unfortunately, this is a forum with volunteers helping each other with what they know, not a support phone line... and with the problems you are having, it's not something that can be solved over the phone anyway.

You should NEVER post your phone number in a forum like this, anymore than you should put "call me at this number: xxx-xxx-xxxx" on notes all over the seedy areas of downtown. It's an unnecessary risk, and nothing is worth becoming the victim of a stalker. Especially not if you have a daughter...

Have you had your computer looked at to make sure you don't have malware on it?

One last question, one you will not like: Are you sure it's not your daughter doing all this, and leaving you with the bills and anxiety? What teenagers say they do with their phones and what they actually do with them, are rarely one and the same.

    Hi

Dont need the iPhone to be jailbroken to tether it, all it needs is the cell operator to have it enabled and you need to plug it in via the USB (or Bluetooth) mainly, so thats a physical thing and not a random occurance. Plus iOS3.0 onwards had tethering option, again only if the operator enabled it or you did one of the hacks to make it work and I would imagine you did not use command line to add tethering.

If you can answer my questions that would be good, and I would be personally resetting the phone back to factory and seeing if that clears the weird occuances up, but if the iPhone is not jailbroken then a hack attempt from someone is not really going to be a cause, if the iPhone is jailbroken then again reset back to factory and update to latest version iOS (which is iOS4.0)

Mimsy is right its not something that can be fixed over the phone and I'm not even in your country... you would need someone that is a bit expert in iPhones to have a look at it, I'm suprised the Apple Genius folk said there is nothing wrong with what you are experiencing, but I would personally need to see the issues happening to comment.

So best bet is reset to factory settings and see if that cures this, also to test disable Wifi, Bluetooth on the phone and see if this stops the weird issues (note do backup the phone before resetting and all instructions are in my earlier post)

*if you are only using a iPhone to connect to the forum over a PC then use the notepad in the iPhone to type your post up as its immidiatly saved on the phone, then you just need to cut and paste into a forum post.

If you do ahve a PC in which you connect the iPhone to iTunes with then you may need to check as Mimsy points out for malware (virus, trojans etc) on that PC.
