Why would Java suddenly make my system hang when using Firefox as a browser?

I like to play some of the games at Yahoo. I usually use Firefox as a browser. This worked fine through Sunday. However, on Monday when I tried to play a Yahoo game and the Java applet loaded, it made my computer hang when I used Firefox as a browser. Fortunately, I had no problem using Internet Explorer. I did not knowingly change anything between Sunday and Monday. I have Java version 1.6.0 18 and Firefox 3.5.7. What could have happened and is there a way to fix this problem?

What Windows version and Service Pack are you using?

Clear your temp internet files in Firefox and try again the games.

I would uninstsall Java and then run this tool http://majorgeeks.com/JavaRA_d5982.html then instsll the latest Java (make sure your browser is closed when installing) http://majorgeeks.com/Sun_Java_Runtime_Environment_d4648.html
