Why would Nvidia do this to me!?

Ok so i go and download the latest nvidia detonator drivers the 56.72's. I install them like normal, restart my computer and as my computer is loading up all my taskbar items, like MSN/AOL/BOINC etc. i get a windows xp blue screen of death! you know the one where it tells you your computer has been halted to prevent damage to hardware or whatever. the message just gives me a weird hex error code. then i have to restart. the computer will start fine in all forms of safe mode so im certain its some kind of incompatibility, but where get confused is as to what is conflicting with the video card driver, i would think it would be the videocard, but certainly NVIDIA would have made sure their drivers work for a mainstream GPU like the Geforce 2 MX. Also any version past detonator 53.03 has this same problem. im really stumped here, any ideas or people with similar problems?

 

my suggestion: stay away from the newer drivers or get a newer vid card, the GF2MX is seriously outdated anyway.

 

I agree , Gf2 may not be supported by 56's
Read supported drivers at site..

 

Nvidia does not reccommend using thier newer drivers for older cards,
there is info regarding that on there site! I believe was on the download page.
